First CFP ranking - Good for Oregon / Pac-12

Ultimately it means nothing at this point but, in a scenario nobody anywhere predicted, the first College Football Playoff Rankings has the Pac-12 with 5 teams in the Top 25 with 4 in the Top 14...

#8 Oregon
#9 USC
#12 UCLA
#14 Utah
#22 OSU

What is great about this is the Playoff Selection Committee is respecting the Pac-12 and despite UCLA beating Utah; Utah beating USC; Oregon beating UCLA... rankings are holding steady. These losses are not considered "bad."

The good news for Oregon is after this weekend the POSSIBILITY is all their remaining games could be against ranked teams or teams "right there" = quality wins for Oregon.

Note: Oregon State plays at the UW this Saturday with both at 6-2 and the UW right outside the Top 25...if the Huskies win they could move into the Top 25.

I think Oregon's ranking reflects the fact the committee is looking past our Georgis loss. I'm sure there are a dozen or more scenarios for the Ducks to get in, but they all involve us winning out. Pretty remarkable we can talk about this with a rookie HC and new staff.

Winning out is an obsius must and then we'll need some help for sure.

It's really exciting to be in the playoff hunt. Something I wouldn't have expected for a new staff and all.

Go Ducks!

Always good to see the PAC 12 well represented. Don't know if I agree with Tennessee being ranked first. They play Georgia this weekend, so that should be fun. Ducks Reign is right as it does not mean anything at this point. Ideal situation would be the front seven lose one to an unranked team. OSU and Michigan still have to play each other, both strong teams. I'm predicting the Ducks to finish 5th or 6th if they win the PAC 12. Go Ducks!
