Re: It’s Official Bo’s Back for 2023!

Whew! 🙏🙏🙏 BUT now what? Only TT remains. It seems we still need a backup via the Transfer Portal but who wants to transfer to be a backup? IF Dante Moore signs with Oregon then he is the backup? That is a MASSIVE drop in experience from Nix.

To borrow the old cliche, Oregon is only one snap away from Nix being done with an injury. Perhaps even more so unless Lanning also cleans up his erratic 4th down and overall game management issues as well.

The QB challenges for Oregon took a HUGE STEP in the positive direction with Nix returning but have really only just begun🤔

Re: It’s Official Bo’s Back for 2023!

I think this is terrific news.  We will have maturity and experience at the QB position, and should help make the transition to the new OC easier.

Now, IF Dante Moore stays, this could be the perfect QB scenario.  Nix starts (okay, not 100% but very likely) Dante has a great leadership mentor to watch and learn from.  He undoubtedly becomes #1 backup and will get playing time in multiple games 4th quarter.  Give him a part-year of FBS play and IF he is as good as his stats, we should have an excellent sophomore QB to build on in 2024.  IF Dante is thinking about the long term, I hope he sees this as best case scenario - maturing and strategically building his case for the draft.

IF he is short-term goal oriented, he will likely look at DTR's example of cocky, run-and-gun, Hollywood style and think he can be a star game one.

oops, didn't read the "flip" articel first.  This blog version loads new clips funny.  Guess we know what Danter is looking for.

Yeah, Dante is gone, but I think Nix coming back lessens that blow considerably. Plenty of options now, including a couple of prep kids, and there is always the portal.

Re: It’s Official Bo’s Back for 2023!

1) Nix's last 2 seasons ended with an injury(Auburn) or he hobbled to the finish line(Oregon). His coming back answers the starting QB question but the depth is, well there is none.

2) I don't think it is a guarantee TT is going to stay either. He can enter the Transfer Portal by mid-January or the first two weeks in May.

3) Oregon has a major problem which began after Mariota and continues to this day...the inability to DEVELOP QB recruits. Robby Ashford couldn't get a snap at Oregon; goes to Auburn and becomes the starter.

I have always believed Justin Herbert made WT and MC look better than vice versa.

Dillingham's FSU offenses ranked in the bottom third of the ACC; he leaves for Oregon and this past season they ranked #1 in Total Offense and #2 in Scoring Offense.

Nix made Dillingham look better than vice versa i.e. how did Dillingham do with Oregon's backup QB's?

4) Whoever this guy Lanning hired as the OC that has zero coaching experience at the P5 level...I hope🙏 he has the ability, among other issues, to DEVELOP a QB at Oregon...because as much as the Transfer Portal can HELP Oregon's QB situation; the NEED is there to develop player(S) in that position.

Re: It’s Official Bo’s Back for 2023!

I would love to see a prep QB come in and get developed here, but that is starting to look less likely all the time. Seems like good Qbs don't want to sit and wait, plus there is so much coaching turnover anymore, some Qbs have several OCs before they leave. Going forward, while you still want prep kids, you're starting QB may well come from the portal. Given the amount of NIL money being thrown around, would you rather pay for an unknown HS kid or an experienced kid?

Pretty much a nutshell right there.
