There has to be more than Apple TV +

First of all, articles like this drive me crazy...4 paragraphs of total vagueness...with words like "considering" and "could" to name two. Absolutely no point for this to be posted but it is on Olive and now it is out there 🙄

Also, what report???

Second, I am sure the Pac-12 is considering every option.

Third, there is no way streaming only will provide the necessary revenues for all the schools. Apple TV+ has only like 25 million paid subscribers.

Unless there's some sort of sharing deal with a network this leaves the Pac in total isolation. The Ducks playing big games nationally sparks the interest of recruits. The total money offered certainly couldn't be that much for their subscriber base.

I'm hoping the streaming talk is just smoke to try to negotiate a better deal with a network.

I don't think it's smoke, but we also need TV exposure/money.

good piece here from SLC writer; comprehensive, and collating differing points of view (like Ken Goe used to do so well). last tweet-capture is the most interesting; says UW (and prob UO) have a standing offer to join the Big-12, keep full-share+ of the $$ they earn, with an opt-out-without-penalty clause if the B1G comes calling in the future.

I do not see it being in Oregon's interest to commit to any kind of long-term broadcast contract right now (nor does it make sense for several other P-10 schools). in the New World, Oregon in a reconstituted and diminished "Pac-12" is a glorified Fresno State. the conference might draw a short-term, low-$$ offer from ESPN to complement the Apple TV rights, but ESPN won't be committing major bucks to anything so unstable, or to an arrangement where Oregon (and other schools) will want an opt-out clause.

best thing the Ducks can do right now is win football games, maintain their status as a national brand, and draw eyes to TV screens (some good opportunities on the 2023 sked).

another good piece here, this one on Notre Dame's contractual situation with the ACC and ESPN, which might (or might not) keep Irish from joining B1G. says that not only would ND lose shared TV revenue from ACC contract if it bolted, but that it would also forfeit shared revenue from its new conference. but, as Irish are poised to sign a new deal with NBC for somewhere between $60 and $75 mill per year, the ACC/ESPN contract might not be that big of a deterrent.
