At this point, all I hope for with what is now a 2-year roster demolition, is these players transfer outside the Pac-12🙏
Tough though losing a native Oregonian.
Interesting how he cited some training staff by name but not a single coach.

Makes little sense, but maybe told he wouldn't be starting? Treven Ma'ae also in the portal. Terrance Ferguson will miss the rest of the Spring with an injury.

And as quickly as I can post them, more transfer!
Joining Brown and Ma'ae is Tucker....a 2022 recruit.
This makes 22 players since the end of the regular season. Looks like Lanning is learning from Altman!
Otherwise I sure hope these guys are leaving because they realize the competing talent is better or the coaching staff has "suggested" they depart for whatever reasons... because anyway you slice it, 22 players with probably more to come is a lot of turnover.

some twitter reaction to today's portal losses...

Freaking hate it.
HATE the transfer portal.
My love of college sports wanes by the minute.

It just doesn't make sense...the FIRST scrimmage and 3 players bolt?!?
One issue is nobody is going to say why?
Players won't because they don't want to jeopardize their status in the Transfer Portal i.e. being perceived as a bad attitude.
Coaches won't because they don't want to jeopardize potential Transfer Portal players coming to Oregon i.e. why play for that coach when he takes shots at players leaving?
I have SOME empathy for the challenges head coaches face with this revolving door of players BUT they will take the "dream" head coaching job in a heartbeat and abandon an entire team.

Pretty good article on yesterday's scrimmage and some info about transfers...

love my database guys, and I try to take them to lunch at Swagat or Maruti on the company dime every chance I get. this is why.
On3 is UGE database site launched in 2021 by the guy who had a hand in the development of Rivals and 247Sports. millions of lines (well OK, objects) of data on college sports, including NIL values by player and team. a scrip is $10 per month or $100 per year.
some views worth sort & filtering . . .
Oregon football currently ranks 9th among 69 teams in working the portal to its advantage, per weighted analysis of transfers-in / transfers-out. Deion and Buffs understandably ranked #1, BruCru and SC killing it as well. Tree leaking sap and bringing up the rear because of its transfer rules. Jimbo "100-mill" Fisher and A&M not doing well.
current Oregon transfers, in and out, including star ratings that I assume are based on actual college performance rather than HS rankings. plus NIL values. BOOKMARK THIS PAGE as spring and then fall unfold.
current Duck roster, with proprietary star rankings and NIL values. Nix at the top at $1.5 mill, Bucky $650k, and on down. not sure why Rhode Island transfer OT Ajani Cornelius is worth $292k, but I might spend the $100 to drill-down and find out.
lots more, but this one is cool. LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne is worth more in NIL than the combined value of Oregon's starting offensive lineup. a cool $3.5 mill. page has a partial list of for whom the belle toils.
lots of players have transferred out of Eugene these past few years. have I missed any of them, and wished they were still Ducks? Tyler Shough? Robby Ashford? Travis Dye? nope, not yet.
among this year's crop, Matavao will be missed. he really delivered some badly needed blocking from the TE position, and caught a few balls, too. Justin Flowe seemed to regress last year; hope he does well at Zona, as we don't play them.
Go Ducks!

I was going to post this on the "New Transfer Portal Thread" but it is locked i.e. "Topic closed"
Anyway a "lingering" issue is scholarships limitations number(85). So right now it appears Oregon will be over the limit at the start of Fall Camp.
I wonder with the Transfer Portal if head coaches will follow the airlines practice of "overbooking" as in say keeping like 88 players on scholarship for as long as possible figuring at some point players will transfer or can be nudged out the door?
I do think the Transfer Portal has different impacts on teams depending on their presence.
For example, Oregon will most likely always have more Transfer Portal chaos than oregon state. The coaches recruit different types of players who in turn have different expectations.
Facilities? NIL potential? Brand recognition? Bigger payroll for coaches? oregon state isn't even close to Oregon.

I'm not sure I'd be surprised if they don't have to increase the schollie limit. Sorry, thread should be open now.
