Pulling hard for this to be successful. There is a boat load of cash that will be left on the table when the ten schools depart and you better believe there are going to be much in the way of shenanigans to scoop as much of this up by these schools before their official departures. While it would not be a P5 conference, if they can get six schools to join them in the next 12-18 months I think that is all required to be eligible for playoff consideration. My knowledge on this is fairly weak sauce so I hope another dude on here might be able to clear up the flaws on my initial thoughts...

The Mountain West has no schools in Oregon or Washington.
San Diego State reached the NCAA Championship Game earlier this year in men's basketball.
Fresno State, San Diego State and not so much recently, Boise State, have been tough outs in football or losses altogether.
On the surface, trying to break up the Mountain West seems like a path of lawsuits and other delays...one year from now neither OSU or WSU has a football schedule per se...so time is of the essence.
I think OSU and WSU should bring whatever financial resources they have from the Pac-12 and JOIN the MWC.
Now if joining can also mean RETAINING the "Pac-?" name and resources, great!
But the notion of breaking up one conference to create another one doesn't feel realistic in a year or less.

Rooting for OSU and WSU on this one.
Hope they get all the cash the Pac12 has coming to it.
I love my Ducks and will never forsake them, but I'm still freaking livid about the destruction of the conference!

I'm assuming the end game is the get the money and join the Mountain West. Like DR said it's hard to see them grabbing a bunch of schools and forming a conference in the next year or two.
Perhaps the money can help keep the coaches around and stay relevant and down the road with more expansion a bigger conference would pick them up.
I hope they get the money and wish them well.
While I'm still bummed about the demise of the Pac it's not primarily Oregon's fault. Ken Goe joined JC in beating the drum and riling up Beavs fans in blaming Oregon. Numerous analyst said the Pac was dead when USC and UCLA left over a year ago. Then Colorado left right after media day. If you're going after teams all 3 of them would be to blame first. It's not that simple though. Reports came out the Huskies disliked the Apple deal and even JC's reporting right before the end stated that the Ducks were trying to make the Pac work. The supposedly 9 or 10 Presidents that turned down the 30 million are collectively to blame as well. The Ducks may have fault, but their not by any means the primary reason the Pac fell and it's real annoying hearing JC and KG riling up the Beavs very belligerent and vulgar fan base. All that said I still hope this works out for them.

the only two conf members w/o a Law School. go figure.
the Pac-12 still exists for another 10 mos, and its member schools will reap huge $$ from playoff or NYD football, and from the MBB Dance, to be divided among members equally. don't think OS or WSU will be contributing to that pile.
and do they also want to assume responsibility for the pending million$ reportedly owed to Comcast for overpayment?

I'm not blaming Oregon. Plenty of blame to go around.

I wouldn't be so quick to discount OSU's contribution to the "pile" this year.
I personally think they have just as good a chance to win the conference and play in a NY6 or beyond as any other team in the conference.

I know, my rant was directed at JC & Goe.
