I have a very simple guideline when it comes to recruiting high schoolers.
Once an athlete is on campus; enrolled and attending classes as well as participating in official team activities THEN they can be counted as being "in the program." Until then it is just a bunch of meaningless hype.
This story is not about a 2024 recruit but one for 2025!🙄 One who committed in January of this year! 😲🙄
But apparently he is already a 5* recruit and the #5 WR in the 2025 recruiting cycle😵💫 Thankfully high school kids don't change all that much between their sophomore and senior years.
So now we have a teenage boy playing the system and all these adults are just like his puppets on strings.🤮
Now Oregon in this case, but it could apply to any school in a similar situation, has to babysit him for a couple of years so he doesn't stray.🥴

Agreed that recruiting has gone the way of the portal …. way overdone. Need some better limitations on high schoolers - maybe limit to the “next” class or some other definition. It’s not fair to either the recruit (pressure to sign then stay or get lured away) or the coaches (spending time on immature kids). Can’t imagine it healthy on either side. They are still “kids” when they arrive on campus!

When a kid commits that early I almost expect him to change his mind and flip. It's way too much work and silliness to have to court and try impress a kid to keep a commitment that long.
Deion is going to be tough to recruit against. How long is he going to stick around though? He could be off to another gig in another year anyway. The insanity of college football continues.
