Ducks should win

I remember Chip Kelly was asked(at Oregon) about adding "second chance" players and he replied, "If you are a good team you don't need to take those risks." Note: This of course was long before the current Transfer Portal.

Oregon was arguably the better team when they played the UW earlier this season...but the head coach took unnecessary risks.

Since that game Oregon has played better; been the better team between the two and it is not even debatable.

"Trick plays" and "going for it" are separate categories...the former being deceiving the opponent into thinking you are doing A but are instead doing B while the latter is pretty much telling the opponent there are no other options.

I believe if Oregon plays "straight up" toe to toe this Friday...they should / will win. There should be no need for high risk decisions, unnecessary gambles; passing up on points and the like.

The OSU game proved it and OSU played better against the UW in the rain than they did against Oregon on a relatively perfect football night. Straight up to victory🙏

Re: Ducks should win

when your team is an almost-10-point favorite, it 'should' win the game. but there is no transitive property in sports. Oregon's margin-of-victory over Utah, ASU, & OS relative to UW's MoV means nothing Friday night.
Penix--if he's healthy--is a gunslinger, and Odunze is a game-breaker. you can 'win' 70 percent of the snaps against UW and still lose the game.

I don't know anybody who attended UO, graduated UO, holds season tics, or contributes to the DAF who is the least bit concerned about Lanning's decision-making, Stein's play-calling, or Bo's ability to read and check down.

I will admit I don't have any visibility into the conversations going on in warehouse breakrooms in Clackamas Co, the taverns along 82nd Avenue, nor the incel message-boards and lower-tier media that churn the noise..

Go Ducks!

Re: Ducks should win

Vegas has the Ducks winning by a touchdown.  Ducks are clearly peaking at the right time.  Opponents have figured out UW so as to slow them, but not beat them.

I agree that the Ducks need to stick to their strengths- running the ball and play action on offense, stopping the run and hitting Penix on defense.  Penix is clearly hurt- make him see ghosts out there...

Duck secondary is looking to be down Florence, expect the Huskies to take plenty of shots downfield early and often.  They will score points.

Watching the Ducks v Them videos, I am impressed with how Lanning is leading his players and coaches.

Keep Bo upright.  That is the #1 key to victory.  He is another coach out there.  Wouldn't surprise me if the Dawgs took a cheap shot at him.

Yep, I have no problem with Lanning's decisions and neither do his players. They love it when the coach shows confidence in his players to make plays. Obviously, this does not always work, but it is usually attributed to execution or the other team making a great play. Sometimes I wonder about the "fans" who constantly bitch about play calling realize there are 11 guys on the other side of the ball.

Bingo. Armchair quarterbacks rarely have any real game experience other than replay.

Protect the Bo, follow the Bo, win with the Bo.

GO DUCKS !!
