Probably the one and only issue I have nearly universal agreement with Canzano on is his view of the Pac-12 as it relates to Larry Scott.
I think he makes some valid points in this column and maybe Oregon should step up a little bit more. I liked what Bohn did too.
I have always contended that the Pac-12 is like no other conference...8 of the schools are in big cities with professional sports teams, in some cases other colleges and a wide range of entertainment options. Eugene, Corvallis, Pullman and Tucson have only one major player and those are the respective universities in each city.
While the competition is fierce in those 8 cities for sports dollars, it also means there is lots of potential. I am not an expert enough to understand it completely but it sure seems the Pac-12 should be doing much better financially with 8 big cities of media, finances, marketing, etc. I still do not like the idea of having the conference championship in football in a state(Nevada) where there is not even a Pac-12 school??? Hoping for a change in leadership.

JC has been doggedly accurate in his pursuit of this issue. The bottom line he continually paints is that the P12 draws the least amount of resources as a P5 conference for their member schools whilst compensating leadership from this pool of resources at the highest compared the the other P5 conferences (for those who are not aware of his series).
U$C and Bohn are basically threatening to go independent in football despite a poor attempt to walk back that comment. And why not? They can still remain in the conference in all other sports and leverage their juice (no pun intended) to draw substantially more in revenue on their own.
Playing out a scenario that $C does depart in football (a very real possibility), where does that leave the conference? The South would become a mid-major in the eyes of the national media and the expectation then turns to Seattle to carry the mantle.
How many days to kickoff???

Interesting food for thought. U$C might be able to bust a move like that, but not Oregon. Second to SC in brand recognition, certainly. But I’m not sure if it would succeed. The Ducks can, however, apply some pressure to Scott. Not an expert in sports TV marketing, however.
