Re: Lanning Staying

That's the best news I've heard  in ages!

It really says a lot about DL's character and about the endorsement of the entire program.

And I got so worked up and nervous going down the rabbit hole reading Bama boards. They probably assumed if DL was their favorite he was sure to be their coach.

That video gives me chills. I love the "if you're afraid your coach is leaving, come play for us"..
What an awesome recruiting tool: "yeah, I turned down Bama, it's better here"

Re: Lanning Staying

major statement by DL. if he's not leaving for Bammy then he's not leaving for anyone else, at least for a few years. he just lopped the heads off of a lot of trolls and chronic mouth-runners.

when A&M fired Jimbo, Heather Dimwit of 'ESPN Insiders' published a column saying that Phil Knight was going to have to cough up a lot of $$ to keep Lanning in Eugene. nobody on her staff told her that Mullens & PK had addressed that months earlier.
by & large, it's all just empty noise. talking heads, influencers, local-yokel columnists, message boards, fan boards. even national media, who still think SC is the only team on the Left Coast. they tout their 'sources' and then they're usually wrong. but there's no subsequent change in behavior.

Wednesday, February 7th, 6 pm to 10 pm. Oregon National Signing Day bash at the Nike campus Tiger Woods Center. only $100. a chance for everybody to say thank you to DL and staff, and meet a bunch of current and former Duck players. try the bacon-wrapped asparagus, it's the best in the city.

Re: Lanning Staying

Bama players now have 29 days in the portal.

On the recruiting side some players have already decommitted.

There's a good chance at least a player or 2 could be coming this way.

In the world of college football where coaches leave left and right and don't honor their promises DL can say he already proved he's a man of his words.

Awesome recruiting tool, plus it shuts dow, cynics and huskies who might claim this is BS or just a negotiation tactic. Only a fool would publicly lie to recruits about not leaving.

Re: Lanning Staying

I learned of this on the local sports radio noon show (1010XL) here in Jacksonville FL, it broke during the show and the producer disses the Ducks and says he is making a huge mistake, he even played the sound bite from Lanning's tweet.
Now, you have to understand this producer. He is a huge Miami Hurricane fan and was so giddy when Miami hired Mario, he could not contain himself. He currently hates Mario for some reason.

That's funny about Mario. It seemed like they were ready to hold a championship parade the day he got hired. Reality has finally sunk in for them.

Speaking of Florida you're one of at least 3 posters on here from the state. It's nice to see the Ducks representing from coast to coast.

Re: Lanning Staying

Thanks, Phil! We are spreading the word across the state!!
Did everyone notice that all Ducks coaches fall on their face when they leave the program? Miami, Florida State, Las Vegas, Arizona State etc. all thought the incoming coaches were the second coming. Lanning recognizes a good situation that is in front of him. He has all the tools to succeed. To go to Alabama was nothing but a lose lose situation as how do you improve a team after a GOAT coach?
Good for Dan Lanning staying! It's a good day to be a Ducks fan!!

Re: Lanning Staying

YES!!!!!

We're so lucky to have a man of such character as our coach!! And a young man at that. Maybe there are a few honorable men left in the world!? We've got one and he's a DUCK!!!!

Come to Oregon young men and be part of something great!

I'm so happy!!!!

LFG!

Turning down Bama! … Bama!, is huge. Love D Lanning!

Saw somewhere where D Lanning was described as “sinister”. That is so accurate.

Re: Lanning Staying

Players commit to coaches, NIL and culture.  It’s no longer about the university.  Alabama lost its edge with NIL and the portal and Saban tapped out rather than ride out the eventual decline in the program.  Honestly, the only reason a great coach would leave a program with top ten resources via to take on that dream job while his bank account already able to cushion the blow if the move failed.  While Lanning may go in the next 3-4 years, I think it would be to a program with an ever better set of resources in place.  That is a short list….

He really played that well and turned to whole event into a great recruiting pitch.
