Is it just me, or does College football continue to go down a long and very dark rabbit hole. Or .... is it just those nasty, flee ridden, leg lifting howlers?
UW steals a coach (along with a slew of AC's) from Fresno State, just recently in 2021. Bulldog fans cry. Fuskies revel. KDB does well with inheriting a bunch of player hold-overs from previous coaches. Fuskies revel some more. Then magically he gets stolen away by Bama (plus a slew of AC's) just two seasons later in 2024. Fuskies cry, real hard as the sky is falling. Then days later the UW steals a coach (and a slew of AC's and players?) from UA. Zona fans cry. Fuskie fans now revel in thinking they have the best coach ever (save for Don James) and their program is saved. They want to pillage and raid every coach and player they can from UA. Zona will now go on to subsequently steal a coach (and a slew of AC's) from another poor hapless program.
Fuskies never seemed to mind stealing KDB from Fresno, yet hated so much to be stolen from, only to dance around the fire in yet stealing another coach.
Steal, wash, rinse, repeat.
College football, or just the Fuskies? I can't think the Duck fanbase cried or thought the world was coming to an end when Cristobal left, or was so arrogantly set on throwing another program into the dumpster fire they just hoped out of. At least I didn't.
Am I alone with this train of thought?

In general the Fuskies are by in large worse than other Pac fans at least from my experience.
To be fair I remember Ducks fans being pretty bent out of shape about Slick Willy. Although it seemed directed at Willy for leaving so quick versus blaming FSU, which it seems like the Fuskies fans are doing.
The coaching carousel is definitely in the negative category in modern football. At least we have a few positives like a bunch of NFL draft worthy players coming back to play because of NIL among other things.

Oh yeah. College football definitely going down the shitter.
I don't think Duck fans are any better/worse than any other fanbase. We love our coaches when we have them, then pretty much deride and root for their failure when they leave/get fired. Duck fans can be pretty petty honestly. A lot of Duck fans still harbor an unhealthy amount of hatred towards Helfrich which is weird in my book but whatever.
I'm just thanking my lucky stars that Lanning stayed and postponed the anger/doom/gloom/depression that would surely follow.
I'm very happy in the short term with the state of our beloved Ducks but am pessimistic about the future of college football in general. Hopefully the 12 team playoff will be cool for a while at least.

I didn't realize Alabama was cheap on the NIL. The talk of the "Saban discount" is new to me.
I'm a little off topic here, but the 247 video highlights the problems with college football and money.
It's pretty much like the NFL having no rules having no rules.
All that being said the game is still fun to watch and I'm looking forward to next season. As I heard someone say recently college football is kinda like the restaurant that does everything wrong and has a line out the door. People may complain, but still like to watch at this point.
