It's going to take a while to get used to the change. Even after reading about the B1G event this week I literally still thought to myself yesterday that it's Pac 12 media day.
I'm still excited for the season and will be tuning in a lot more. There's a lot to be excited about. We have a really good team this year.
Dillon Gabriel has interviewed well and I'm happy to hear about his connection with Marcus Mariota. Dillon said he got permission to wear his number 8 while talking to him on the phone. He also said in numerous interviews that making the move to the Ducks was easy. DL and company didn't even have to pitch it to him. He's the odds favorite to win the Heisman this year. The Ducks are about 3rd in the odds to win it all. Sound a bit like going into the 2014 season with Marcus? A lot of teams never have such talent. When I was a kid I was always glad to see the Ducks get in Bowl Game and never thought they would get to this point.
From watching interviews and reading about the team it seems like the energy and positive culture is for real. I mean almost every team says things are going great this time of year, but I think things really are from a chemistry perspective.
Another takeaway is that both DL and the Ducks are getting a lot of respect nationally and not just from Ducks homers. The bar is set really high this year. Besides the team getting a lot of praise DL really is too. He's been getting a lot of respect across the board from fellow coaches and the media.
How's everybody's summer going?
We're just a little over a month away! Go Ducks!!!

Yeah, this B1G stuff will take some getting used to, but we're in the best possible place given the demise of the PAC. I'm looking forward to the new teams we'll play, tho, and I think we match up well against them all. tOSU is loaded again this year; here's hoping being in Autzen brings us the W...

Nice take on things post B1G media day.
Yes, Lanning seems to have respect from fellow coaches and the media. The energy and flow with the Oregon 'progrum' right now feels very tangible. Although I didn't like Kirby Smart's sarcastic remarks about the Nike connection.
Which speaks to my other observation, that beneath the Oregon football traction going on right now lay the undercurrents of jealousy, hate and misinformation toward The UofO program.
I look at virtually all of the podcasts on YT pertaining to the B1G and Oregon.
The haters and trolls are already frothing at the mouth at the threat Oregon poses to their teams and their reality construct. In their juvenile way of thinking only the blue blood teams from the SEC and B1G should have any viability.
The comment sections all have these kind of trolls spouting the same talking points and that Nike Is cheating for the Ducks themes.
There's one particular troll infecting these podcasts that reminds me of Luther. And I believe it's actually him from the old Oregon Live. He goes by the name of Feisty Bunny and his m.o. is exactly the way it used to be with his various sock puppet tactics. He just keeps hammering away at Dan Lanning. He also did that with Cristobal from the very beginning. Other posters tell him DL has only had 2 seasons as a young coach and it's premature to jump to conclusions on that. He keeps hitting upon his 3 losses to UW too.
Believe it or not, I commented to him recently, "Luther, is that you?" No response from him. Which he never did on OL either.
Anyways, we here know That he is a "nut job" as Old Retired guy once said.
And even if Oregon wins it all next season, those nut jobs will continue their temper tantrums and psychotic comments.
While we continue to enjoy our teams journey the last 20 years or so.

Hi Orygun303!
Yeah, you know the SEC best is getting scared when they start taking shots at the Ducks. I remember when Saban started whining about Chip and how unfair it was that they play fast and all.
There always seems to be some unhealthy and unexplainable nut cases trolling the Ducks. I guess it's part of the internet, but I certainly can't relate. I imagine Luther will keep it up for all long as he's still ticking. I'm sure the peanut gallery will expect a perfect record from DL this year.

Oregon is "new money" according to the blue bloods, the only reason for its relatively recent successes having been Phil Knight, despite him not playing a down ever.
What gets me is that the programs that are whining the most are the ones with the historical record of great success. These programs didn't go thru the late 60's thru the late 80's fielding 3-8 squads featuring 2 and 3 star players just happy to be playing football at the highest level.
The more they talk about Oregon, the more they recruit players to Oregon. So let 'em whine...

as the late Ms. Didion once wrote, 'we tell ourselves stories in order to live.' when Dan Lanning turned down the offer to become the head football coach at the University of Alabama--the high-water mark of UO's forty-year climb to national prominence--it savagely broke the narratives by which so many people were living.
SC fanboys and chatboard-sters have been obsessed w UO for more than a decade, ever since De'Anthony Thomas chose to come to Eugene (and busted two long TDs in the Rose Bowl before all the home-slices). their grief has reached a fever-pitch these last two years, with the thumping in Autzen last year and Lanning's recruiting wins. thought they were rid of Oregon when they jumped to the B1G.
Huckleberry Oram at The O and others among the local-yokel media have fed the notion that the University of Oregon is somehow responsible for the eventual demotion of Oregon State to the Mountain West. never paused to ask themselves why no other conf wanted the beavs. fifty years of welfare checks for being the Washington Generals, gone. the problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money--UO's money, SC's money, Zona's b-ball money.
we love Uncle Phil and Aunt Penny, but reducing Oregon's success to "Phil Knight" is deeply disrespectful of all the work Rich Brooks, Mike Bellotti, Nick Aliotti, Rob Mullens, (and yes, Mario Cristobal) put in over the years. and of the players, like DAT, Marcus, and Penei, who chose to come to Eugene.
I'm not ready for football yet. still almost two months of summer here in the great Pacific Northwest. real games don't start until almost-October anyway.
GO DUCKS!

I am fired up for Duck football! Continued positive news in recruitment, players and coaches seem honestly upbeat, chemistry is gelin’, injuries so far are limited. And on a fun note, some dandy new uniforms are 10+ in style to me.
Plenty of fresh crying towels to go around. Sorry haters, that towel comes with a big ass Duck logo on it! And, Luther, if you’re trolling out there, expect a fresh pressed towel for you!
G O D U C K S ! !
