no point-spreads issued yet. ESPN Analytics makes it 60-40 in favor of Buckeyes.
Huckleberry Oram, unofficial 2nd Oregon State beat writer for TheO, is already prepping his 'what has Dan Lanning ever done" column for next Saturday evening following a UO loss. most of his content is cloaked as Subscriber Only, unless it's another snide shot at the University of Oregon, like this morning's playground scrawlings.
can't even imagine what John CannedZano and the rest of the tabloid suckerfish are up to right now. or the trolls.
Ducks D is playing at a high level, albeit against three crummy opponents, two w major QB inadequacies. this is Dan Lanning Football, imported from UGA; 20+ athletic defenders who can rotate and mix-and-match and wreak havoc on opponents.
Ducks O is cause for reasonable concern. O-line has settled and is driving an improving run game, which gives Gabriel time to throw. receivers were running wide-open all over the field last night; there were times when 8 had his pick of 3-4 open receivers.
but the O still goes through puzzling stretches of inefficiency. Gabriel has made some bad decisions. can't have those kind of mistakes v tOSU, and we've got to maximize every possession in the red zone.
The Project these last several years, through Mario Cristobal, Joe Salave'a, and now A'lique Terry, Tony Tuioti, Tosh, and CDL, has been to build the kind of offensive and defensive lines to match the elite teams in the SEC and B1G. what UW so sorely lacked in the NC game v Michigan last year.
don't think we're there yet, and I think it will show Saturday. wish we had last year's O-line and D-line personnel this year, except add Derrick Harmon.
we'll find out Saturday.

I agree with your take on the O needing to not make mistakes next week. Even with their occasional inconsistencies and DG Red Zone issues the past 2 games they can easily beat most teams. Like you say there's no room for error next week.
I can't help myself while on long commutes and have tuned into CannedZano on a few occasions recently. He's all hot to trot trying to prop up what I believe is the Pac 7 1/2 right now? Best of luck to them and I don't blame the Beavs for looking out in the best interest. The funny thing is he talked about why everyone has to look out for their own interest when the Pac fell through and seemingly cheered on the narrative of Beavs fans that the Ducks were to blame. Now the Beavs are by all means far more responsible for the demise of the Mountain West after using them this year. For now their plan went bust with being declined with the likes of UNLV and Memphis turning them down. You basically just made another Mountain West level conference.
Enough with the Beavs talk. I'm all focused on next week. Iowa is being Iowa in slowing Ohio State way down while doing absolutely nothing on offense. They would be a scary team if they ever get even an slightly better than average conference. At least they might make Ohio State starters stay in late. The 60-40 odds that Ohio State will win next week seem reasonable. I felt the same way a few years ago when the Ducks pulled out the big win.
Go Ducks!

Big upsets all thru the top 25 yesterday. fOSU up to #2 and Ducks at #3. Three point underdogs. Seems about right.
Must play clean and all four quarters to keep us in it. The crowd needs to be at full decibel, which I think they will be given Friday’s game. Dillon needs to be smart and take what he gets - no forcing it. James just needs to be James. O line settling in, this will be the first real test. The D is playing solid and should be able to reasonably slow down their playmakers.
No turnovers and no mistakes on our side and this can be close enough to win.
GO DUCKS !! 🦆🏈🦆🏈

Yep! It will take a clean game for us to win, but I think it can happen. GO DUCKS!!!!

ESPN has the Buckeyes favored by 4.
The wild card on offense is Gabriel, his decision making is going to be critical as a play extends. The wild card on defense is the pass rush. The Buckeye receivers will get their catches and yards, but their QB is prone to throwing it up for grabs when pressured and if rattled enough might toss a couple picks when chucking it away. Chip is not running anything exotic, relying on the athletes to make him right in his calls.
Was at the game on Friday and really impressed with the defense.

Josh Pate is picking the Ducks to win outright. Personally I’m glad the majority are not although most everyone thinks this is a tough one to predict. When most everyone picked the Ducks to beat the Huskies 2nd time round they came out flat. Same with Idaho games.
