Dedicated to all the Herbert haters on OLive!

A 4-year contract with $26.6 million guaranteed to go along with all the individual and team successes this past season! Congratulations to Justin Herbert who weathered 3 different head coaches and OC's during a 4-year career. It is anyone's guess at this point as to what football at any level will look like, but Herbert is a winner on and off the field.

never understood the anger and derision directed toward 19- and 20-year-old kids by some people, just because they play for a rival team. esp the in-state kids. Herbs, FastPP3, Adley Rutschman, Ashton Eaton . . . all the way back to Mel Renfro and Terry Baker from Jeff. these guys rep'd the entire state of Oregon, not just their respective colleges.
could not have come out any better for Herbs. $26 mill and living in Diego. trade ya.

I am so happy for Justin Herbert. Three-star local kid that grew up in a family with so many Oregon ties. Ducks gambled on him (thanks, Coach Helfrich!) when he had some health problems, and he turned into an all-timer at Oregon. Love the kid to death, and thankful all the time for the amazing athletes that choose to play at the UO and earn a great education.

Hope Nathan Bittle is the next local kid to come home! Damn, love my Ducks. Hope you all are doing well!

The bonus to his war chest???  A degree and a path to a medical career if the football thing does not work out.  Key is that he took the STUDENT part of student-athlete as serious as he did his football.

And yeah, I cheer on a couple Beaver players simply because I am friends with their families, like most just wish for the best under any and all circumstances...
