I am too jaded at this point to view Willie Taggart in any reasonable objective manner and this article confirms my elation that he is no longer affiliated with Oregon.
When someone has to play the "God card" to answer questions, they are being evasive and denying what everyone else has observed.
Yet aside from he and the coaching staff proving coaching matters by turning around the Oregon program from the disaster of Mark Helfraud's last season, I will always have some appreciation for WT on 2 coaching hires...
1) Mario Cristobal
2) Jim Leavitt...even though Oregon is better now with Avalos... Oregon's D was a train wreck when Leavitt came to town.

“When someone has to play the "God card"
Not to mention the victim card - “I’m not mad at anybody” and “I don’t have any hatred or anything against anyone.“ LOL please.

Good point and always easy to say those altruistic sounding comments when you have become a millionaire by misleading (Oregon) and doing a terrible job(FSU) to reach your current status.

Blame no one. WT can only look in the mirror (probably a very nice one!) at the guy responsible for his swift fall back into G5 relevancy. His schtick plays well at that level and in that geography and no doubt FAU will probably continue to be a solid little program under his leadership (post-Kiffen). I've turned the page on him at UO, agree with DR that he left the coaching cupboard very full. The assistants were the "juice" of the program anyway and glad Mullens recognized that (down to his last strike as AD and hit one out of the park).

I have a difficult time believing anything Taggart says or does. I think his departure from Oregon was sordid. I don't think he did that well while at Oregon . . . with the exception of bringing Jim Leavitt on board to turn Oregon's defense around in a timely manner.
I have believed for a long time that Taggart is overrated. He record at FSU proves that and I don't think FAU is going to have a better result.
