Opt out players

So...Breeze, Graham, Holland, Lenoir and Sewell have all opted out for this season.  And I wouldn't be surprised if a few more players did, too.  The Ducks just went from a possible PAC-12 contender to an also-ran.  Even before these guys decided to leave (and I certainly don't blame them) I was having a hard time getting excited for this shortened season.  Maybe I'll change my mind come the first week of November, but as of now, I don't see myself signing up for the Sling TV sports package anytime soon.  I cancelled it back in March and have saved $30 bucks a month.  I'd like to hear from other Duck fans what your thoughts are.

I'm not going to pretend loosing all of those players don't hurt, but I wouldn't count the Ducks on being a Pac-12 contender at all. The defense will still have some of the best LBs in the country let alone the Pac. Replacing an entire offensive line is going to be difficult, nevertheless the Ducks have experienced players to fill the void. Good size too and unless there's a bunch of injuries they won't be having to put freshman out there. The secondary will certainly be thin.

I'm still excited and wasn't expecting anything this fall. I had already figured NFL caliber players would be leaving for a delayed or cancelled season. So many new talented players are coming in and I want to see what they can do. The QB, D-Line, and what Moorhead will do with the offensive are a few things I'm eager to watch. The Ducks still have one of the best collective compilations of running backs in the Pac too. There's certainly a lot of question marks this year.

I'm ready, Go Ducks!

It's tough to lose so much, but the Ducks have recruited very well. I do share the lack of enthusiasm right now, but I've been watching more FB this weekend, so I'll probably get wound up when the season starts. I think, if all the games get played, it comes down to injuries. Replacing guys like Penei and Holland makes you thin at those positions. Guess we'll see.

Re: Opt out players

I remember Chip Kelly saying, "You cannot manufacture experience."

That is what hurts the most with these opt outs...loss of experience.

Yet Breeze was a backup for the first 8 games of last season so he is banking an NFL career on a handful of games? The odds of getting DRAFTED(not even making the team) is like 1%... thousands of draft eligible players every year and only like 250 drafted.

Except Sewell, I think all of Oregon's opt outs could have used some more game experience(being on film)  because by the next Draft they will have gone like 18-months without playing a down!

Wish them the best but they are over estimating their NFL worth in my opinion.

Re: Opt out players

I noticed all games are on ESPN, FOX, and ABC. No reason for me to pay a la care for PAC 12 Network, so I will just keep my Fubo subscription. I let Sling go when they lost NFl Network, and Fubo is faster, cheaper, and has a great DVR. Far fewer buffering issues (none, actually) than sling. FUBO bills itself as the sports fan's streaming service. It is $65.00 a month, which is fine.

I think the Ducks have quality depth, but experience does count, too. As always, great point on your part. That said, I won't miss a snap. Can't wait to see these young kids play!

I have a sneaking feeling we are in for a great year...

Re: Opt out players

Glad he did! It would be cool if a few more came back. I bet Mario is really pushing the angle on what a unique opportunity this might be. It's a strange year with lots of challenges, but it could also be a memorable story. Big 12 is unlikely to get team in now...

Re: Opt out players

Smart guy! Hope he can influence some others too. As I stated above, I am fine with Sewell and get it...he is guaranteed Top 10 pick...but everyone else needs to be seen more on film and game experiences between now and the next Draft...in my opinion.

Also I have to believe Cristobal and Avalos  are "recruiting" the opt outs with the same determination they do in regular recruiting. Maybe not the same volume per se but the same determination.

I think this a big addition. Not great size, but sounds like a playmaker. Hope Bennet Williams is the thumper they think he is. Breeze is making an error, imho, in not getting another season on tape...
