The guy that every reasonable person despises wrote a comment to
Ken Goe at 3:35 am Pacific time. It was over 2 hours before the OL's draconian
shutoff of their popular commenting service was due.
The handle that he chose to go with was "Louie Flores" this time in
response to the story by Ken Goe entitled "Goe: Oregon's defense carries
team to victory over Wisconsin in Rose Bowl.
Here is the copy and paste
of that comment:
"Ken, I appreciate all your input and advise. Thank you for sharing a few laughs
about the absurdities of it all. No need to thank me for driving the comment section
to amazing new heights of friviolity. We will stay in contact via Justin, Dan, Walter, et
al.
Have a happy New Year. Keep up the great work."
My Take is...By going so far as to make it appear that he's in cahoots with Goe, he's either a
complete whack job, and that is entirely possible - or he actually was working
with OL in the comments to garner more clicks all along.
In either case, I really don't care anymore, but being your intrepid reporter I put it out there anyway.
What do you guys think?

I think the guy is an absolute nut job. I saw that comment as well. I mean, it's possible. I once e-mailed KG mentioning all the BS comments from one guy, and he replied that the guy was just a "passionate commenter"...not the words I would have used to describe him
In the end, I guess it doesn't matter, but interesting none the less.

I’ll give the dude some backhanded credit- he left an impression and a legacy with regards to trolling regardless of topic. If an inside job, that would make for a great story... My take is that he is a Rupert Pupkin kind of guy who exists on the fringes of reality whereas in his reality he is the King.

I like your Ruper Pupkin analogy. The guy definetly lives on the fringes of reality. I don't think the Oregonian cared enough to spend the time or resources to keep him off. Their whole email verification system was real lousy in that they allowed no name anonymous email accounts for verification. Advance Publications that owns the Oregonian owns a whole bunch of newspapers that ran the same format.

I wasn't on the Oregonian in the few hours before the comments were shut down. Were the commenters on going absolutely bananas?

I stuck it out to the bitter end on the shutting comments down thread. Not too crazy. STI was there, and agnes lipstick or something. I got the last comment in on that thread...don't know about the others.

Interestingly, KG is hosting a live chat, and you can post questions there now. I haven't yet.

Think this is a way to see just how many from the peanut gallery are still peeking at the site. As he is a columnist and not the beat guy or an insider, I am not sure what he can do on this other than reel in clicks and share opinions just like before, albeit in a limited window that will shut at a certain time.
IMO, if JC were hosting this it would get better reader response, but not all positive commenting as to be expected with KG...
Not going to peek in on this or participate...

I just peeked, and there are actually comments. Just wierd.

I think Loother (or one of his many sock puppets) was not in cahoots with Ken Goe or the Oregonian. He was either a Beaver or Huskie fan. If not, he had an anger and bitterness problem with all things Oregon. He got his kicks bashing the Ducks and got a 'high' when Duck fans would call him out. That just flamed the fires for this whack job. Anyhow, it's all good now. He is gone, the Ducks won the Rose Bowl and today the Ducks start conference games against the Buffaloes. The PAC-12 media picked Oregon and Colorado as the top two teams in the conference so this game will be a good challenge for us. Hoping C.J. Walker's back is ok and looking forward to see Shakur Juiston back on the court. Go Ducks!

I have no doubt he was an olive plant and I said it many times. There is no other way to explain how his accounts didn’t get shut down as he continuously broke forum rules on a daily. I have no doubt Goe also moderated his articles even though he said he didn’t.

Whoever it was, he (and a few others on OLive) reminded me of one of my uncles when I was a kid that would intentionally hurt us until we cried. Then comment what softies we were and how we had to learn to be tougher if we wanted to grow up and be real men.

way back in the day i somehow bagged one of the moderators. this dude was in pennsylvania and moderated for the parent company (that runs O-Live, AL-Live, etc websites). i was surprised to see the Nick D had moderator privilages because he's so very thin-skinned. as for Luther? when (and i will refer to Luther et al as "it" because that drove it nuts) it started commenting back in 2014 it was absolute hatred towards Coach Dana. it was in some U of O's professors 'fan club', just slobbering over this guy. that would be 'the whistle blower' professor who hates the athletic department and has some crack pot website out there where he dumps internal U of O documents. at that time it knew zero about sports (now it spends all day on recruiting websites and DMing teenage boys).
i don't think (but could very well be wrong) that Luther was employed by O-Live because of Luther's response to simply mentioning Brendy Tracy. i did that often to troll Luther as hard as i could, and it worked like magic, would send the bafoon into a fit of rage. if an O-Live employee was caught making the comments Luther did about Brenda Tracy and rape and O-Live continued their employment then O-Live would be opening itself up to massive lawsuits. also Luther's cheering when Molly Blue was let go tells me it was not employed by O-Live. its userid "Sevendust" refers to a southern heavy metal band (Ladymoon was also a very obscure death metal band long ago) so that gives a hint towards Luther's rather regressive view of women, society, etc.
as for Luther's cryptic comment? Luther claimed to be 'an insider' of many things. it was just throwing spaghetti at the wall and trying to be an instigator. i feel just fine to have mocked and clowned Luther mercilessly and been his target of white hot anger and hatred.
when i think of Luther i immediately think "pretender" and "wannabe".
When some psycho stabbed/killed people on a PDX MAX train and commenters immediately went "Luther???" that pretty much says it all.
Luther's simply an antisocial friendless creep with poor grammar.
HAPPY NEW YEARS and GO DUCKS!!!!
