I'm glad he got picked up by the Celtics in the first round. They're a pretty good team with a good fan base. I saw Kendrick Perkins talking about really liking Payton and the pick.
This is why not leaving early for the draft makes sense unless you're projected to be in the top half of or at least in the middle the draft. Some folks were even questioning if he would've been picked after his junior year.
The same logic applies to football. Brady Breeze comes to mind as a player that could've benefited from playing another year. I hope I'm wrong and he gets picked up early and makes a final roster next year.

To be honest, if you love playing the game and you are starting at the collegiate level, play every snap you can. I go back to LMJ, who when with the 49ers said his biggest complaint at the pro level is not playing. This from a guy who might have ended up the all-time rusher in NCAA history... Only the elite of the elite (i.e. Lawrence, Sewell, solid first rounders) really have that luxury of passing up college snaps.
