Bill Musgrave

Thoughts?
I agree with Goe, this makes Cal a different animal. Not convinced they will be able to match Oregon in recruiting.

Re: Bill Musgrave

I think he’s a great fit at Cal, and I think that he can be a potential game changer for them.

I’ve always wondered what engendered bad blood between Musgrave one Oregon. Someone’s going to tell me I’m wrong, but he led us to our first sustained success in the modern era. You would think he would get more traction as an alumnus.

It’s one of the reasons I figured he was a non-starter for our opening.

Anyone know?

Re: Bill Musgrave

Where have you heard that there is any bad blood with him and the UO?  That is something I have not heard...  Think he is just a serious introverted type-B guy who is happy to be a career assistant at whatever program will have him.  And being so introverted, the NFL is a better fit as "recruiting" is a different deal at that level.  The best reason that I think he is not a good fit at UO is because MC wants a great recruiter and I am pretty sure that Musgrave is not the photo shoot mugging camera social media wow flash boom personality that will attract MC's kind of guy.

Think he is a great fit at Cal, where expectations are somewhat less and the culture is different in the Bay area in the shadows of a pro program...

Re: Bill Musgrave

Cal's coaching staff is shaping up in a way that intrigues me and I like seeing the symmetry of former players finding their way back to the Pac-12 as coaches.

I think hiring Musgrave was a good decision.   I was surprised Wilcox hired Beau Baldwin as OC . . . and that Baldwin accepted.  After all of his years as HC at EWU, I can't help but wonder if it was a challenge to be an assistant.  I hope Baldwin does well as HC at Cal Poly.

Still looking forward to who will be the next OCs at Oregon and Washington.

Re: Bill Musgrave

five new starting QBs in the P-12 North next year. Oski was 8-5 this year w injuries, and returns Garbers and Modster w starting experience. as much chance to win the North as anybody.
