I agree with this pretty much.

it's nice when I saw the same game as everybody else--that doesn't always happen.
this summary pretty much captures the discussion on our gamestream here.
it starts & ends w Brown. some people today directing fire toward Moorhead and Mario, and they might deserve some of it. but AB has to deliver or step aside for one of the frosh.
didn't go to the game yesterday; talked to some friends who were in Autzen. there were plays all over the field to be made. TEs were roaming free in the middle for mid-range gains. it's about reading the D and real-time recognition . . . AB engineered some commanding drives, and looked lost at other times.
onward.

two more things . . .
Fresno St just might be pretty good. Goe retweeted this yesterday:
kicking game was impressive. Camden KOs into the end zone (must be working w Stash Man in the weight room). Camden perfect on FGs and XPs.four punts inside the 20. KO returns looked close to breaking a long one. Pittman solid on punt returns.

Good observations. Brown just didn't see the field. I had thought our TEs would be a big factor, and sounds like they could have been. Both Bama and tOSU are starting frosh QBs, and I have to believe Ty could have done better, plus he's the future IMO. I'm on board with saying Fresno is a much better team than they were given credit for. If Brown struggles in the first half next week, does M&M give Ty the second half?

This article focus's on Brown and the Ducks O..

I stated this in another thread, but if your projected ceiling is a two loss conference championship, better it be with the youngsters at QB than a super senior who has peaked and ain’t going to get any better. Pick the top two FR and set them as the definite 1 & 2 on the depth chart and allow their growth to happen. One might get dinged and the other gets the chance to shine.
AB is Prukop 2.0.
That said, QB is not the only concern, there needs to be some serious coaching up in all facets of the game…

I remember that coming out of camp, there were players saying Herbie was the better QB, but Prukop got the nod due to experience. I hadn't heard too much this year, but it sure seemed Ty gained a lot of ground. I'm fine with seeing what Brown does against tOSU, but if he really struggles, I say give the ball to Ty and let the future begin.
I agree tho, there are several areas of concern beyond QB.

According to Saban, Alabama had 8 new starters on offense including the QB and 3 in the OL and they crushed Miami.
Oregon brought back nearly every key player on offense plus all these multi* recruits and...nothing changed on offense.
Personally, I don't think play calling is the problem. Instead, quite simply, Cristobal has very little belief in his players to...make plays. Until he trusts his players, it won't matter who is playing what position or what play is called, nothing will change i.e. Verdell up the middle and maybe a pass that travels 10 yards in the air.
Proof? Look at the box score. A grand total of 3 players ran the ball for Oregon?!😱🤔 Brown, Verdell and Dye...almost 50 carries. Huh? What about all this amazing talent the coaches have been hyping these past 8 months at the RB position? You can't give them the ball for even ONE carry??
Cristobal is one terrified head coach. Saban is not...which is one reason why Alabama is so far ahead of Oregon it is not even measurable.

Shouldn’t some of your ire be aimed at J Moorehead too?

"Shouldn’t some of your ire be aimed at J Moorehead too?"
Oh I am happy to go one step further... Cristobal, Moorhead and Mastro.
I named only Cristobal as there always seems to be this debate / discussion on who is calling the plays? Cristobal? Moorhead?
Honestly, I don't care and nor does it make a difference. Collectively the above three have created this "we love to recruit talent but don't like to use it" offense. Or as I read on another message board, "Oregon runs a prevent offense."😂

Oregon has nothing to lose against tOSU. MC might want to recognize that. Open the play book and let the chips fall where they may. MC called timeout before the first play of his career at Oregon and hasn't really gotten much better since. Disturbing. Defensively play man and let the big three wreak havoc on the QB. Put Sewell on the RB. Let it ride.

I'm all for turning it loose, but I'm just not sure MC is willing to do that. I think there will be a better game plan, but I'm not sure it will make a difference. If AB struggles again, will MC make a change? If he does struggle but stays in, then it will be telling who starts the next game. I guess we'll see how this goes, but having to come from behind to beat Fresno isn't a good look. OTOH, how would you like to be a husky fan right now

Know an insider ( everyone knows one 😉) who, having moved on from the program, has no problem dishing it that MC is a hyper micromanager. Whether recruiting or X’s and O’s or meal plans and team photos, MC has his hands deep in all of these facets.
Only say this to bolster why it is he may not trust his coaches or players to the degree he needs to. Saban, Day, Smart, etc. are CEO’s first. They trust their coaches and players and hold account for all. Defense lost their spark when KT went out and it was not good to see him spending the second half working his smartphone rather than be dialed in on his teammates.
MC is the right guy, but it is clear he still has room to grow before he is ready to bolt for his dream job when that opens up…

This is MC's first P5 head coaching position and he talks the talk but the bottom line he manages games scared. He fears both failure and success so he remains stuck in neutral.
This is Saban's third P5 head coaching job and I imagine long after Mario has departed Oregon and is in another head coaching position, he will look back at his time at Oregon and realize how he allowed his fears to limit his efforts.
