Juice

No doubt the program has it and will continue to have it while MC is coaching here.  Problem is that it does not seem to be flowing on the field.  All year these guys have been playing very conservative ball- on offense the game now dinks and dunks with downfield shots missing the mark entirely.  Defenses loading up closer to the LOS and going mano a mano to stop the run.  Defense is a bend but don’t break philosophy with little QB pressure and receivers with space to move.

Said it at the start of the season, if you are a two-loss team, it is my opinion you get there with the youth at QB instead of the 6th year guy who is not a special talent and has peaked in his growth and skill.

Think this will be an interesting bye week.  You have an opportunity to make the move at QB with two weeks to prepare and maybe get some fresh juice going again.  Open the playbook and let the guys have some fun.  Still a season to play for with an outside shot at a playoff spot.

Thoughts?

I think this loss, and the way it happened, has to indicate a new approach at QB. We really don't know what TY can do as a starter, but I think he'll definitely bring some juice to the offense. AB hasn't hit the wide outs much at all, and only Pittman in this game. Too much talent going to waste, while he mostly tries to run. I'm not saying the offense will suddenly explode, but AB is not going to suddenly morph into a MM . Let's see what can happen with youth being served. Kinda reminds me of the Prukop/Herbert situation.

"Open the playbook and let the guys have some fun."

Under Mario Cristobal?!? LOL It hasn't happened in 4-years. Plus I don't think it is part of "the process."

We have a head coach who detests the law of nature for water i.e. seeks the path of least resistance.

Instead whether it is his game and clock management; offensive philosophy and all related issues....he always chooses and coaches the path with the most resistance.

That is why every game is a battle because that is what he coaches players to do vs step on the opponents throat and put them out of their misery.

How ironic he wants to deliver the knockout blow in the last minute of the game(by passing instead of running) yet for the other 59 minutes he does everything possible to avoid doing such and not surprisingly his players are unable to so either.

Re: Juice

All I can say is, seems like overreaction going on here. I believe AB is still the guy for this season.

Well, you're not alone. For me, it's time to see what Ty can do. I do believe we'll see AB continue to get the starts, but he's a career 55% completion guy who makes bad reads on RPOs, but MC is loyal for sure. My fear is we get to the end of the season, and Ty or Jay haven't gotten playing time, and MC goes for another transfer QB just because of no experience.

IF (or when) he loses another P12 game, I’ll join the flock. Until then, I’m sticking with AB.
