Mario to Miami according to Wikipedia?

Just Googled his name, and his Wikipedia entry came up saying it was updated about 15 minutes ago and that he is the head coach at Miami.

Wishful thinking? Publicity stunt? I guess we'll see.

Re: Mario to Miami according to Wikipedia?

The "information" was inserted into his bio, but the resume section of the entry is unchanged. If it's a prank, it's a tacky one considering he was in Miami to visit his mother in the hospital.

Re: Mario to Miami according to Wikipedia?

Although being some 3,000 miles away that could be a reason he goes to Miami i.e. family health issue. It is only his father, mother, brother and himself.

If you had to pick a non-football reason for leaving, that would be it.

However depending on the dynamics, that doesn't necessarily mean he would jump into coaching right away...if his mother needs ongoing care...I could see him taking a year off...his family by all accounts is VERY CLOSE.

Hopefully his mother is on her way to a healthy recovery 🙏

Re: Mario to Miami according to Wikipedia?

Even if he leaves, the recent Wikipedia entry looks like a prank / publicity stunt by a Miami fan (tried to include a screen shot, but it didn't work).

Here is the latest from Miami. They are looking to hire a new AD. MC is mentioned in the article.

Someone keeps making changes to the Wikipedia page (Mario's salary at Miami is $6 million), and Manny Diaz hasn't even been fired yet. Reason #73975837297 not to believe everything on the internet, LOL.

Re: Mario to Miami according to Wikipedia?

Diaz is not a long term solution at Miami, IMO he is out by this weekend.  All depends on how fast they can lock down either Kiffen or Cristobal.  If they lock in with Kiffen, that bodes well for Cristobal as he would be the logical successor to Kiffen once Lane wears out his welcome- and that will happen- giving at least three years for MC to make the invitational and get that trophy in the case at UO.

Re: Mario to Miami according to Wikipedia?

anyone can gain access to Wikipedia and make edits. same thing happened w Mario two years ago when Canes hired Diaz. maybe it was O.A., given his 15 hours per day of free time and the stinging pain administered on Saturday. year-long stinging pain.
waiting for the socmed posts from Canes fans taunting Ducks fans, like the ones from Free Shoes fans when Noles took Taggart, Leavitt, Mario, and the entire UO coaching staff in 2017.

O.A. = Orange Army?  If so, that makes sense.

Also, I’ve been meaning to ask: Were  all the sock puppets James Blazen the Nike janitor, or was there more than one?

Re: Mario to Miami according to Wikipedia?

The home factor of being around family has always been the lure of Miami. His mom could certainly have a sway. Wishing her well and the rest of the family.

I have seen a lot of skeptics with MC to Miami just based on the money. They would have to give him a big raise possibly in the 7 million a year figure and then there's a 9 million buyout. A lot of folks think Miami can't afford those figures.

Miami will write the check if it is to hire Cristobal, the opportunity to do this is as hot as ever...  The state of FSU football and UF football almost makes it a prerogative to do it immediately before the other programs right their ships.  MC can reel in immediately a Top 20 class.  For MC, I believe he is not about the money, but the opportunity.  Kiffen is Plan B for the 'Canes with Plan C retaining Diaz for another year so as to not write that check.  My guess is that this particular Miami domino falls this coming Friday/Saturday.
