I really had not realized it until the announcers in the Arizona game noted that the entire STARTING offensive backfield at Oregon are transfers...QB and RBs! Nobody from last year starts.
Nix, Irving, Whittington rank in the Top 10 in the Pac-12 in Rushing...the only other Duck in the Top 50 is James at #30.
Cardwell played 2 games and has been injured; Dollars and McGee have played in all 6 games. The 3 of them have scored a total of 2 TD's!
Of course Thompson and Butterfield remain as "backup" QB's.
It feels like if / when Cardwell returns that will just reduce attempts for Dollars in the backup role. I don't see Irving or Whittington being replaced any time soon.
Of course we can speculate all we want but halfway thru the season with the Ducks leading the Pac-12 in Rushing...it appears Lanning has moved on from what he inherited.
Finally credit needs to be given where it is due and Lanning inherited arguably one of the if not the most experienced OL in the nation...so Oregon's rushing successes isn't only because of the transfers.

No question the O line has been tremendous this year, tho I might argue Klemm is doing a much better job of utilizing the talent MC left behind. Obviously Ty is simply not ready, and actually looks worse, tho that could be because of the role he has to play in garbage time, and he doesn't get to read the defense and change the play. Irving and Whittington are 1 and 2 beyond a doubt, imo. When was the last time we had multiple 40 point games? I think the transfer QB comes to an end with Dante Moore, tho we may need one more next year as a bridge to him: guess we'll see. Big game in two weeks..I like the Duck's chances at home. This season has been fun to watch, and the coaching has been xlnt, with mistakes getting addressed and corrected. Meanwhile, life is not fun for MC right now.
