Welcome to The Duck Room. We're an old school Oregon Ducks fan site dedicated to our University of Oregon Ducks sports. This community is centered around sharing updates, news stories, and opinions, and thoughts related to Oregon Ducks sports.
One of the best things besides the great users we have on here is that The Duck Room is completely free. Always has been and always will be. Don't be shy as everyone can post your latest thoughts on the Ducks. Just see the few simple rules below.
1. Common sense community standards apply.
2. Posts of political nature of post that would lead to such matters do not belong here, there's a whole internet for that.
3. Fans of different teams are allowed here as are difference of options, however trolling is not tolerated.
4. We have to abide by copyright laws, which means quoting an articles story and posting links works. On the contrary copy and pasting entire copyrighted stories is against the rules.

Total insanity right now as far as I'm concerned. No relationships, no concerns of development..just show me the money.

The college game is done. It’s time for the university sports programs to be removed from the university and for an NFL minor league system to be created. Universities will have to move to an Ivy League non-scholarship club teams.
It was fun while it lasted. I have a lot of great memories, some that I would like to forget, mixed with some blurry ones, that college football has brought me. I wish I could have shared the experience with my children.

I don't share the doom and gloom predictions... remember how everyone felt the NCAA was THE problem?
The 3 pt line was going to ruin basketball; going away from wood rackets was going to destroy the great traditions of tennis; DH would turn MLB into a circus; coaches salaries in college and pros would bankrupt the schools and teams...on and on it goes and yet sports are and WILL still be played.
Change RARELY ends it all in sports. It just means new people with new ideas and new ways to involve themselves eventually take over.
Every change; new rule, etc. leaves a group of purists in the rear view mirror predicting the final nail in the coffin. Reminds me of all the complaining and griping people make about politicians with threats of "vote 'em out" yet the re-election rate is over 95% in Congress!

I think the college game is here to stay for a while at least. Sure, it's not the same anymore. Regardless, the level of talent and play is pretty high quality.
Some rules and limitations are certainly needed for NIL.
The reason I don't see college moving to an NFL developmental league is the money. College football makes an absurd amount of money. Minor leagues in other sports don't and need colleges attached to teams to keep the revenues high. While some scoff at the money involved schools need the revenue too. Football subsidises other sports in the red and helps universities in other ways so I doubt many will push football away. The NFL probably doesn't see much money in a developmental league besides the massive amount of infrastructure to start one.
I think the biggest threat to football is lower levels of participation for safety reasons, which is rising on the West Coast in particular. That's a whole different discussion.
Things sure aren't like they use to be, but we should have some form of college for a while in my opinion.
