Hawaii game may not hapen

I am okay if this game doesn't get played as August 24 is early; 13 games are not necessary and given Oregon's first year in BIG with many unknowns (weather, travel, new opponents, etc)...however I do feel for the players missing an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii...many of whom I am guessing have never been there.

Kind of interesting this game dates back to a contract signed in 2014! How things have changed since then.

Re: Hawaii game may not hapen

Hawai'i has always been a primo recruiting ground for Oregon, dating from the Malapeai bros and before. wasn't much of a game on the field in Autzen earlier this year when the Rainbow Warriors came to the mainland, but there were events all week long celebrating Poly culture and raising funds for the victims of the Lahaina fire. during breaks in the game-action the vid-boards ran interviews with Duck Poly players about family, culture, and the meaning of their tattoos.
when I was at UO, students from Hawai'i were the third-largest out-of-state contingent, surpassed only by students from Cali and WA. I believe there have been years when the Hawaiian students outnumber the WA students.
I hope they can play the game. school doesn't start until late Sept, so the extra travel days shouldn't affect anyone. I would rather shed one of the meaningless games v Idaho or Noisy St in early Sept, but season-tics have already been hard-coded, so that won't be happening.
