Oregon Could Win Out and Miss Out On BIG Title Game?

Apparently if Penn State and Indiana win out it's possible they have the better conference weighted schedule and Oregon gets left out. Imagine that?

In the unlikely scenario the Ducks would probably be a 5 seed, which is considered a good place to be in the 12 playoff. They'd get a bye too and probably have a chip on their shoulder. Of course this is the time of year college sports nuts and media like us look at situations like this. Most years a bunch of undefeateds lose. This scenario would require Ohio State losing to both teams.

I believe seeds 1-4 receive the bye, seeds 5-8 host the first round.  In the unlikely event of the Ducks being shut out of the title game, that only means a bye for themselves before hosting a playoff game, if you follow me.

If I am mistaken or incorrectly reading your comment, my bad…

Good point, I was using the term bye in the generic sense, but failed to think about the actual bye for the first 4 teams.

So basically there's no rest advantage to missing out on the B1G title game and getting the 5 seed.

It would be neat for the Ducks to win the B1G for their first year. In addition getting an official bye and top 4 seed seems advantageous.
