Ducks in B1G Championship & Bye Week Updates

It's been made official, the Ducks are in the B1G Championship. It's really quite the accomplishment.

As much as DL and the Ducks might be excited I'm sure they're a lot more interested in winning playoff games than just getting in. As a fan that's where I'm at. It would mean a lot more to win a playoff game than the conference championship in my opinion. Oh yeah, we still have a score to settle next week.

Tez says he's going to be back against the fuskies. DG hasn't looked the same without him, which I think is only part of the reason.

The Ducks really needed this bye week with being so banged up. I'm really hoping Marcus Harper will be back. Did you notice how DG was getting pressured a lot against Wisconsin? Tez would be helpful, but getting DG more time might even be more important.

I'll miss the Ducks this weekend. I'm interested in watching the Indiana game next week. The Ducks are typically the only team make enough time to watch completely so I'm going to make it for that game.

Re: Ducks in B1G Championship & Bye Week Updates

we want to win the B1G title game . . . that would mean a #1 seed and a berth in the Rose Bowl on Jan 1. against the winner of the #8/#9 first-round game (how bout Notre Dame v Ducks on NYD in Pasadena?).

if we lose the B1G title game, that's a 5-8 seed playing host to a lower seed in Autzen . . . somebody like BYU or Tennessee. I'd rather not, thank you.

tOSU just lost its starting center, and the entire O-line is banged. two O-linemen left the game in the first half at Autzen. Buckeyes are vulnerable Sat v Indiana, and might have trouble w Michigan. I would much rather play Indiana or even Penn St in the B1G championship.

definitely have missed Tez, although Dillon has established a good rapport w Evan Stewart these past two games. Traeshon needs to step up, as well. bless Justius Lowe, but he's not those other three guys.

Ducks have been vulnerable to inside defensive pressure all year. Conerly and Ajani Cornelius are all-conf quality tackles with possible NFL futures. Pancho is a true soph, great player, and team leader at center. but we don't have either projected starting G right now; Nishad Strother started at E Carolina, but not at UO last year, and the Iuli/Rogers combo filled in OK for MHII.  really would like to have Harper full-strength for UW & going forward.

Dillon does not roll out much by design, although he did improvise for the biggest play of the year at Camp Randall. Will Stein has schemed fairly well this year for the pressure coming up the middle. quick outs to the WRs, stretch runs with Jordan and Noah. that Dillon sprint-keeper for a TD v beavis. and esp that quick-slant to Traeshon on 3rd-down to start the 2nd half v Noisy State.

get everybody healthy, and cook up the plays that are going to help them win. opposing teams and DCs have 11 games worth of film to work with.

as Phil says, good weekend for a bye. lots of other games to watch, like tOSU-Indy, ND-Army, & Sparky-BYU. and any one of those could affect who we play down the road.

Re: Ducks in B1G Championship & Bye Week Updates

A top seed and a bye in the playoff is exactly what the Ducks need.  To get that, they have to beat UW AND win the B1G outright.  No days off.

Tez back means that three headed snake of pro caliber receivers will be all over the field with Ferg and Sadiq giving defenses another thing to keep track of.  That will help open up the run and hopefully lead to the offensive show we saw mid-season.

O-Line woes hitting hard across the conference, feel bad for the Buckeye C who tore his Achillles.

Regarding UW, Lanning will have his guys fired up.  Coach knows this is as much about the fans and the rivalry as it is about getting the win.

Don't want to see tOSU in the B1G game, cheering IU all the way...

Re: Ducks in B1G Championship & Bye Week Updates

I hadn’t realized Ducks were the only team to play 8 weeks straight. Brutal. No wonder they looked a bit out of sorts in CampR.  Huge relief to pull that one out - says a lot about the desire and drive of this team.

Perfect time for the bye. Great news on Tez, even without catches he draws the double team and frees up others. Hoping Jordan and Marcus will be back for the Fuskies game to get tuned up for Duck deep run in the playoffs. No more injuries please!

I’m sure Lanning (and the crowd) will have the entire team fired up. Wish I could be there!

Re: Ducks in B1G Championship & Bye Week Updates

I certainly see the advantage to winning the title game. It's just that a playoff win means a lot more now. Josh Pate talked about how the new playoff structure makes all other games including the title games and bowl games mean a lot less. He didn't like the playoffs because of this. Personally I'm a lot more exacted about the new playoff format than I ever was with the previous 4 team playoff and bowl games only before that.

Indiana sure can't move the ball or give their QB any type of time to throw. How did Indiana end up with such an easy schedule? I guess the Michigan game looked a lot tougher preseason.
