The 5 Seed is the the best Seed?

I haven't paid a lot of attention to the playoff seeding since the Ducks haven't lost and all.

As I've been hearing for a while everyone is talking about the 5 seed being the best seed? It sounds counterintuitive, however you get to play the 12 seed in your first game.

It's still in the Ducks best interest to win against Penn State. They could fall a lot below the 5 seed and I think you want the momentum, bye week, and honor of winning the B1G.

Moving forward it sounds like a change is needed to the seeding. Spencer explains this well in the first 5 minutes.

Re: The 5 Seed is the the best Seed?

You want to be a 1-4 seed, bottom line.  Ducks win this Saturday and they are off until 12-31 or 1-1.  That is a lot of time to get healthy and yes, they are the conference champs to boot.  This time of year there is enough in the way of attrition and scouting that levels the playing field to a degree, so playing a 12 seed or a 5 seed is not a shoo in for a 1 seed.

For the sake of argument, if the Ducks lose this Saturday, unsure if they fall past the 5 seed as a one loss team.
