Ducks vs. Penn State
Where: Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis at 5 p.m. PST
Weather: Sunny day in Indy with a dry upper 30s kickoff temp., ? I was surprised they were kicking this game off so late back east with no other B1G games. I'm assuming this was best for viewership?
TV: CBS/Paramount+ streaming
Line: Ducks -3.5
Injury Updates:
There's still social media talk of Jahlil Florence coming back. Personally I would be surprised to bring him back for a game like this unless we're talking a few plays or the end of the game or something.
Tez and Jordan Burch came back last game and to my knowledge there's been no talk of any setbacks.
The big question on the injury report is Marcus Harper II? He was listed as questionable and didn't play last week.
One other under the radar injury is that Keyon Ware-Hudson was listed as questionable last week and didn't play.
On the other side of the ball Penn State's starting right tackle has been out for a while. There number 2 WR has been questionable recently.
Penn State Strengths/Weeknesses:
On the offensive side of the ball Penn State is putting up just shy of 250 passing yards and are ranked 64th in total yards per game. Their putting up around 195 yards per game on the ground, which is ranked 45th.
On defense:
Defense yards average: 266.8, ranking 4th in the country
Points per game: 14, 6th in the nation
Rushing yards per game: 97.1, ranking 7th in the nation
Their offensive if decent overall. It's the defense that really stands out.
Ducks keys to the game:
While Penn State is not electric on offense and the Ducks need to shut down their run game, which should limit the offense. The Ducks have been great doing this against good teams like Ohio State this year, which is why a lot of us are feeling confident today. On the flipside Penn State is really good against the run. Can the Ducks find a way to run? If not can DG throw big like he did against Ohio State. If the Ducks can still move the ball and score say 30 points things would presumably look good for them. The Ducks have a big advantage at the QB position
Why are the Ducks are only favored by 3 points:
Penn State has been looking really good in their past several games. They're a well coached team with major talents on most sides of the ball. The other thing is this is pretty much going to be a home game for Penn State. They don't have to travel far and presumably with have a huge crowd advantage in the stands. They also have a lot less of a cushing for losing than the Ducks do.
Personally I think the Ducks should win this, most likely not by much though. I'm really not sure how things are going to go today and want to see how this plays out. One thing for sure is that this year's Ducks seem different than last year in that they're ready for the big games. Dan Lanning has grown as a coach as well.
That's all for now. How is everyone feeling about this game?

Did they just say that Oregon was thought to be the finesse team? Has he not seen the ducks at all in recent years?

Got to fill the airwaves. The announcers on ESPN for the sec game were so bad I had to switch to a local channel. Had their own group coverage part screen while the action was under way.

Yeah, the national announcer seems so lazy that don’t even bother how to pronounce anyone’s name or do any homework. It’s like they just show up to the game or something and wing it.

The secondary is surprisingly off right now. I’m sure they’ll settle in soon. That’s the great thing about the Ducks as they can light it up on either side of the ball.
