I'll pin this and add names from the Ducks as well as any interest Ducks have in portal guys. Our first entry is Jac 'Qawn McCroy.

Thanks for doing the updates and keeping us posted.
I heard about this guy being the big fish in the portal. I knew about losing a lot of O-Line players this year and didn't think about how we're losing most of the secondary after this year. It's definitely a position of need and probably not the only secondary portal player coming this way.
What a crazy thing to have the portal going right before the playoffs start. I get players on teams finished for the year or lousy bowl games transfering, but I almost feel bad for the players leaving the playoff teams. It's hard for me to imagine not wanting to stay with the team for a potential natty and enter to portal the next cycle.

The timing of the portal sucks, there is no other way to put it. So many ways to slice it, won't lay them all out here. That said, the reason this portal is open now simply has to do with the academic calendar so players can port to their new schools and enroll/move before the next semester/term starts. Marshall just canceled their bowl invite as they won't be able to filed a full roster since there was a coaching change and over 20 players already in the portal.

Yeah, that sucks for Marshall and the kids who are still there. Gotta be tough on kids who want to transfer but whose teams are in the playoffs. Gotta be changes coming.

This timeline has to be addressed in the future. None of these kids played significant time, but if Ducks make a deep run, we will need the bodies. I also think this BS of giving winners of a conference championship game a bye is nonsense. basically the lower seeds have an easier path than the top seed.

I forgot about the semester issue. It’s often hard to remember that they’re still students and not just professional athletes.

I agree, it seems like a bye would be a bigger advantage if everyone didn’t have an extra week to begin with not playing this past weekend.
I could see the seeding being more fair in other years. Their metrics sure don’t match up with what Vegas or anyone who knows football and is paying attention to who really are the strongest teams.
It’s amazing how DL hasn’t been complaining about the Ducks getting screwed. Even non Ducks fans think so. Meanwhile Alabama is crying like after blowing 3 conference games and not getting in.
All that being said I’m still excited about the expanded playoff and find it much better and more interesting than the former 4 team playoff.

I love the fact Coach Lanning isn't whining about the situation, but instead calls it "a great opportunity". If we do win it all, we will certainly have earned it. Screw Bama, they have only themselves to blame.
