My guess is that the O will improve by at least 12 points a game

Sounds like a good guy and a fine coach. It was interesting to see Canzano's piece where they ranked coaches by analytics. Takeaway is that the transition away from Arroyo to Moorhead is a big win fo UO...
The more I read about Moorhead the more I like him. MC keeps taking huge steps forward. It's impressive to see the UO program separate itself from that 4-8 season by such large margins every year. The future is looking great for the Ducks and their fans. Not being satisfied with a #5 finish says all we need to know about UO football.
Agreed! And the Ducks have loads of talented depth. Benson and Dollars will be good down the road while CJ, Travis, and CHL hold the fort.
Very excited by this program. Everybody is bought in. Good things ahead...

With the losses on the O-line, and a new QB, any improvement at all would be absolutely great.
If the defense stays reasonably healthy it should be much, much better. If the offense is any better at all this team will be good enough to not only make the playoffs but be competitive once there.

That would be a phenomenal leap. I hope you're right but I doubt it. In 2019, Oregon's scoring offense was ranked #16 in the nation, scoring 35.4 ppg. LSU was #1 (shocker) at 48.4 ppg. A more modest 7 ppg would put Oregon in the 6th slot nationally, assuming next year's numbers = this year's numbers. Even that would be a leap, considering all the personnel changes. If Tyler Shough can = Justin Herbert, and I think he can if the receivers perform better than in 2019, and if the new talented line can step in quickly, AND if the new system is as good as I think it's going to be - then yes, I believe 6 or 7 ppg improvement is POSSIBLE. Anything more would blow everyone away.
Also, fwiw, I think Tyler will be the starter next year, but I don't think it's a given. Robby Ashford would be incredible under this (presumed) new offense.

its a done deal now
I'm not going to believe it until it's posted on goducks.com. R Moseley isn't in the business to "scoop" anyone. He just reports the facts, and there is nothing confirmed by the UO athletic department so far.
ahh if it was reported by ESPN its a done deal--
Still no confirmation from the Cristobal or Mullens. What's up with that?

Nothing official anywhere, even on the Ducks twitter feed. I know that when you're hired by a public entity, it takes time to cross the Ts and dot the eyes, but no idea why Coach Cristobal has said nothing.

One reason would be if Mario has commitments that won't allow him back at Eugene for a few days. I read something about that yesterday but I don't recall specifics. Still, you'd think they could announce it online or via a press release or something.
UPDATE: Canzano has an interesting article on O-Live at He addresses a couple of POSSIBLE reasons it's taking so long to make this hire official.

I think this is the most likely issue. Hopefully some official word soon.

I'm warming up to the idea of Moorhead as OC. And, like others, looking forward to seeing it made official.

I don't click on his stories, unless it's by accident.

I find it difficult to read Canzano without the comment section. The guy leaves so much to rebut. Just can't read his articles anymore. Turned off his radio show back in 2011.

Not sure if this has already been shared. If so, apologies.
If you like Dave Bartoo's data-driven analysis ( I do), he discusses coaching hires with Canzano.
Some takeaways -
On Moorhead: "solid -- very, very, solid."
He also really likes Leach's replacement.

I'm not a big analytics guy, but Bartoo has some good stuff. Everything I've read about Moorhead sounds good. He talked about counting the numbers: not trying to run against stacked boxes, which will mean a lot of QB reads. Makes a lot more sense than slamming into an 8 man front. He preaches a lot of the concepts Chip used in his schemes. MC now has a solid D and O coordinator in place, and Moorhead was also a good recruiter. Future looks bright.
