Takeaways and Questions

Beavis did just enough to give Oregon something to work with.

Takeaways:

The Ducks got off to a slow start allowing a long drive, which they couldn't stop the run. However, they really turned the game around.

Oregon put 585 yards of offense, allowed 147 yards.

Dante started off just looking a touch off and then recovered nicely throwing for a career-high four touchdowns and 305 yards.

Oregon only allowed 87 yards of rushing and 2.6 yards per carry, which is pretty good actually.

The Ducks secondary is looking really good and only allowed a 32%.

The Ducks allowed their first sack, which also showcases how good this line has been.

Malik Benson brings the speed and will be a huge asset in opposing defenses not being able just needing to scheme to shut down Dak.

Jordon Davison didn't have a lot of carries and when he came in for the goal line score I couldn't help, but notice how fast he looked as he didn't have to use his power with the good blocking.

Questions:

We know Dante has one of the best arms in the game. The question is can he handle going on the road into the what is considered one of the toughest crowds in college football?

Is Noah just a little dinged up and being rested and full go for Penn State?

How good is Penn State, they've only been playing cupcakes?

To second that is Penn State's pass game really bad or have they just been saving all their decent plays for the Ducks?

The Ducks started out slow in stopping the run for the last 2 weeks, can Tosh make some changes and get an early stop?

Could Dak Moore be the best recent day Ducks receiver of all time? Don't get me wrong Tez's route running and making guys miss after the catch and then De'Anthony Thomas's speed. Dak is a much bigger receiver and every bit as fast.

Can Dante hold up all season running the ball like he is? He keeps taking big hits that make me cringe.

To follow that up will Austin be healthy and ready to back up Dante if need be?

That's all I got for now. Looking forward to next week. Go Ducks!!!

Re: Takeaways and Questions

Dante needs to know when to slide.  The head first dives are the exact thing that has rung Tua's bell way too many times in Miami.

I'm optimistic about the next level at QB.  Austin might not be out there but he has an arm and I think Moga has been very patient and deliberate in his style of play.  My prediction is that the backup will see meaningful action this season.  But nothing to panic over (Lockie, anyone????)...

Re: Takeaways and Questions

Austin was warming up on the sidelines late in the CW game, although Thomas actually took the mop-up snaps. mechanics looked good and he was slinging it with no indication of injury or pain. spect he'll be ready to go this week if necessary.

this will be a severe test of a reconstructed offense. All new O-line built around Pancho. new group of receivers, new rotation at TB. how will they respond to the crowd and a shortened time-box for decision-making? can they make sight-adjustments, pick up blitzers, break off routes and run to open space? how much rope will Dante be given to change the play at the LOS?

everybody knows Penn St wants to run the ball and UO needs to stop it, or at least slow it. what do Tosh and Tony T have dialed up? PS's wideouts were the weak-spot last year, although they had an all-world TE. they went to the portal for upgrades. can the UO D commit bodies to the box to stop the run? can our secondary hold its own in man and 1:1 with PS's wideouts? can Matayo and the rest get pressure on the QB in passing downs?

ought to be a rip-snorting good game. Franklin and PS need to win; Ducks don't.
