Welcome to The Duck Room. We're an old school Oregon Ducks fan site dedicated to our University of Oregon Ducks sports. This community is centered around sharing updates, news stories, and opinions, and thoughts related to Oregon Ducks sports.
One of the best things besides the great users we have on here is that The Duck Room is completely free. Always has been and always will be. Don't be shy as everyone can post your latest thoughts on the Ducks. Just see the few simple rules below.
1. Common sense community standards apply.
2. Posts of political nature of post that would lead to such matters do not belong here, there's a whole internet for that.
3. Fans of different teams are allowed here as are difference of options, however trolling is not tolerated.
4. We have to abide by copyright laws, which means quoting an articles story and posting links works. On the contrary copy and pasting entire copyrighted stories is against the rules.

Great DL Interview
Dan Lanning is a genuine likable personality. Lot's of takeaways here and one stood out when asked if he still talks to Bucky Irving. I was expecting the answer would be yes we catch up from time to time, but not yes, we speak every Thursday. It's amazing Dan still makes time for a player a few years out like that.

He is a deep thinker and a well spoken person. He is growing in to that CEO role that college football demands these days, meaning that he has to touch every aspect of the program to a variety of degrees, relying on a team of professionals to take care of the majority of the decisions. Thoughts on the interview:
* He is very outspoken about the importance of roster retention and the benefits of Year 2 in a program like Oregon.
* He clearly is a fan of the sport. I think he would love his job as much if he were coaching Western Kentucky or Wisconsin-Whitewater.
* He has a thumb squarely on the pulse of the state of the game at the FBS/P4 level. He notes that money is the root of most decisions being made. He notes that TV is a secondary root that is linked to the first root. He also has no fear calling out the NFL for basically taking eyeballs and money away from the college game, which inevitably hurts the lower tier schools that play Tue-Thu that increase exposure for the mid-majors. The overall premise is that if you ruin the game, then everything else becomes moot. How do you balance the money with the health of the sport? So far the game has been suffering in the Wild West, so something has to break...

Good takes JJ. He comes across as very canid and also enjoys his job and coaching.
I saw the league finally made some seemingly positive adjustments to the timing of the playoffs next year. However, the portal is still opening before the season ends. Something that DL pointed out and needs to be fixed.
