Moorhead announced

Finally. Joe Moorhead is officially our new OC. I'm excited about this. If he has free reign to install his schemes, our O will be much more consistent and potent, imo.

Re: Moorhead announced

Yessir, that's the million dollar question, right? How much freedom will Moorhead have to run the offense? I have to think that as a former head coach, he's going to be given some latitude that others may not have been given - at least not quite as much. While Moorhead and Cristobal haven't run the same offenses, they do share much of the same offensive philosophy. It should be fun to get a preview at the Spring game.

Yep. Moorhead isn't a big proponent of TOP, but when did we win that last year anyway? Certainly not in the Rose Bowl. CK felt that was a meaningless stat. I'm hopeful MC is moving into more of a CEO type of role, with his main concern the O line. Two xlnt coordinators now: I'm likin this

Re: Moorhead announced

https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2020/01/joe-moorhead-officially-announced-as-oregons-new-offensive-coordinator.html

Article on O-live.

“ I’m fired up to welcome Joe, his wife Jennifer, daughter Kyra and sons Mason and Donovan, to Eugene and our football family.”

“ More importantly, he’s a great man, father and husband who our players and staff will enjoy working with.”

I think these quotes best exemplify what Coach C is building. Not only success in football, but with people of character who will represent our university, and athletic department with honor. I’m proud to see where this is going.

Re: Moorhead announced

I see all his credentials repeated over and over again—impressive. Now I’d like for him to come out and explain why he was so abruptly fired from MSU.

There is plenty of information about this, pretty much everywhere on the web if you’re really interested in finding out what happened at MSU.  Do you think he’s going to magically have an explanational presser just for our fans? Doubtful. From everything I’ve read, (and I’ve read a lot) it was a combination of a bad personality fit with the fan base, and ridiculous expectations of what MSU football should be.

Re: Moorhead announced

Ducks have got a seasoned offensive mind on the way.
Joyville in Duck land. Obvious upgrade from Arroyo, who in my previous two year
commenting history labeled him subpar on smarts and scheming. We Duck fans
have lofty expectations for the offense. It was evident that the Defense
and Herbert's abilities carried this team, in spite of Arroyo. So as long as Tyler Shough is decent
and I think he should be, we're not going to be having the same frustrated conversations asking
what the hell is up with this offense anymore.

Re: Moorhead announced

I would love to see the offensive production catch up with the Defensive production. Hope this is the guy that can make that happen. If the O can play at the level of the D Oregon will compete and perhaps beat the best of the SEC.

We all would love that but it's not likely, at least for a few years. The defense will have FOUR FIVE STAR players and several others like Mykael Wright, Jonah Tauanu'u, Deommodore Lenoir and Thomas Graham who just missed five star ranking. This is the most ridiculously talented defensive team I can remember in ANY PAC school, including USC. (I could be wrong on that point, I just don't remember any more talented.) It will be fun to see how it translates.

The offense should be fairly good, but also inexperienced at QB, OL and even a little at WR.

I expect to see a prolific offense, but a suffocating, dominating defense in 2020. A top 20 finish for the offense and a top 3 finish for the defense is my guess.

You really think it's going to take that long? At least 3 years? I don't think so at all. Should be a short breaking in period, adjustments in getting the new O line experienced and flowing. As well as the new QB. I fully expect to see the positive changes and scary offense within the first season. That's what my crystal ball sees but it could happen one year later than that possibly.

You very well could be right. I just think there are a few things that have to gel on offense, whereas on defense, we pretty much know what and who they are. If you're right, I'll be ecstatic.

Jonah T is an O lineman, probably right guard I'll guess. I think our O line might take some time to gel, but will be very talented, and ready to go early on. They'll need to be by the time tOSU rolls into town. One advantage the O will have is that there is no film of Moorheads use of our personnel. Gonna be interesting to see who the QB is, as before I was thinking Tyler, but maybe Millen now has a good chance, as Joe likes his QB to run a little at least. On D, this will be a talented and experienced group, using the same terminology as last year, so able to play even faster. Our LB corps will be young, but I think Flowe and Sewell will make up for their youth with talent. Really excited for the Spring game and next season. Go Ducks!
