Thanks Florida Duck! How about that, a newspaper that still lets their readers make on-line comments. A few of the comments:
Alabama all arrogant with their program now. Oregon is about to pop very soon. Cristobal is building them up slow and steady and will have them in the National Title race soon.
Mario Cristobal is building a top program at Oregon.
He (Jayson Jones) will be an all PAC-12 player at Oregon. Represent the South well, young man.
Hope the young man goes out to Oregon and puts a southern smackdown on the competition.
As with Ducks fans who had to deal with Beaver and Huskie fans on Olive, Bama fans have the same situation with LSU fans. I got a laugh when an LSU fan said Jayson Jones left the sinking Titanic (Alabama) and went to Oregon.

Yeah, I think quite a few newspapers still do. Mlive (Michigan) still allows them and has the same newspaper setup at Oregonlive. I think it was a poor business move on Olive's end. A lot of used to go to Olive multiple times a day to check comments that would come through, which meant more ad revenue for the newspaper. Now that the comments are gone, I go there maybe once a day. I'm sure they're putting a defensive business case together that the drop in ad revenue (in the sports section) is due to football season being over and not as many people paying attention to basketball, T&F, and baseball, but I think they will still see a continuous decline come Q3 & Q4 and they won't be able to use the football excuse to defend their decision. At the end of the day, I think comments were pulled not for revenue reasons but Oregonlive didn't want political comments, or criticisms aimed at their newspaper/journalists.
