Man! Popovich looks like he wants to put a hurt on someone.

Yeah, that's the look you need to give if you're trying to get rid of a solicitor at your front door real fast lol.

Any chance we lose flowe in this?

Flowe and manning already signed so would have to sit out a year. Be glad this happened after signing day.

The whole transfer portal with its myriad numbers of ways players can get waivers and such to avoid penalty is kinda the wild west right now.  I think Flowe will honor his LOI but after that it does get a bit murky for a couple of players.  Think what transpired with both Steele and McCoy this past off-season and accept that it is a reality at UO with these 4* and 5* players who might think the grass is greener at the school their recruiter decided to move to.  The NCAA needs to get this under control, but very doubtful they truly pursue this as their priority today is combating player compensation in the free market.

Anthony Beavers is already being projected to flip to U$C, and there is now smoke concerning Manning. While I feel players should commit to the school, that isn't always the case. Still, I feel that if coaches are allowed to recruit and bring kids here, and then up and leave, I feel the athletes should be able to do the same.

Beavers is a 2021 recruit, right? Wouldn’t Manning have to sit out a year since he’s a signed 2020?

I'm not sure anymore. If he entered the portal and went to an in-conference school, then yes. Not sure about going to a school out of conference. Rules keep changing.

Re: Donte Williams leaving

Agree with ORG on the "rules" of the LOI and the transfer process.  Lotta players over the past couple of years moving around with no penalties to sit out.  Does not matter if it is a new kid with a binding LOI or a RS Freshman looking to move from A to B without sitting out.  It simply is the new norm and as also explained, somewhat reasonable considering the transient nature of the coaching culture.  Players are committing more to the coach and that relationship, not necessarily the school nor the program as much.

The alternative is to primarily go after 2* and 3* players who will be happy to be here and stay here for the duration of their education.  Might create player stability, but not coaching stability.

The NCAA is losing control of this sport at this level and fast with the already noticeable trickle down effect of diminished game attendance and ratings during the season.  Going to get more ugly before it gets better...

Re: Donte Williams leaving

Looks like good news on the Manning and Flowe commitment. They're both posting Ducks gear and Manning is telling people to relax.

This is a great point, imo. The NCAA is definitely losing control Emmert recently asked congress to get involved: I remember not long ago he wanted congress to butt out. Gonna get very interesting, and yeah, worse in the short term.

Yep. I think both are solid, and Beavers was already looking around. I hate to see Donte go to U$C, but the Ducks have a solid recruiting strategy.
