Sports Illustrated article on Mel Tucker's departure from Colorado

If you like a detailed account of Tucker's last days at Colorado, this is a good article. Love the ending to it as well! Reminded me in so many ways of what Taggart did to Oregon. My own opinion and it was confirmed with Taggart's ultimate demise FSU...you can mislead people; take your dream job(Taggart); have your salary doubled(Tucker), etc. but you cannot escape karma. And rightfully so he is being mocked by Colorado faithful over his spoken commitment to building a program based on "integrity" as MSU. Yes MSU needed to hire a head coach so it hard to blame them per se but Tucker had control over how he handled it. Yet Colorado is in a similar situation now...I am hoping they can make a "clean" hire or perhaps a promotion. One thing is for certain, Tucker was much closer to contending for winning the Division in the Pac-12 South than he will be in winning the Division in the Big Ten East and it is hard to imagine them overtaking the Scumeyes, Michigan and Penn State anytime soon.

this was in The Athletic this morning (as always, you need a scrip) . . .

Tucker graduated Wisconsin and was selling steaks door-to-door from a meat truck when Nick Saban called him and invited him to be on the staff at Michigan State. Tucker must have been there in Autzen in 1998 when it was UO 48 MSU 0 late in Q3.
anyways . . . Tucker's got deep roots in Spartyville.

wonder if the Buffs would be interested in Jim Leavitt as HC? he was successful there as a DC, both recruiting and on the field.

Great point, OMM.  Hadn't thought of the Leavitt angle.  Although they didn't give him the time of day before the Tucker hire.

I haven't heard Leavitt's name re the Colo opening. but he and his family live there (wife & young daughters never moved, even when JL was at UO). not a lot of available candidates for the Buffs to choose from right now. he's a good recruiter and was well-liked by boosters. CU could do a lot worse.

Thanks for the links, OMM. Shot 43/46 for a third place tie share on low net. Team won the front and overall bets. Birdied 12. Stiffed a seven iron 157 into a head wind to four feet and drained it.

Tucker was always talking about integrity here in JAX. He has none, it seems...

Hope Tucker pays that bill and makes a hefty donation to CU athletics...

best I could manage in five rounds in the C Valley was an 85 at a nice course down in Indio called Eagle Falls. hadn't played much since early Oct, but still no excuse . . . there really ain't much else to do down there, except roll into Pasadena on NYD.
Players at Sawgrass in three weeks. time for the FLA loop on the PGA Tour.

This will be mi first year that I haven't attended the tournament at least one day. We are taking the kids down to The Everglades and then hitting The Keys, Sanibel Island, and Orioles spring training.

The Players is a really well run tourney. Had three Oregonians in town two weeks ago. We drove down to Daytona and played 72 holes at DBGC. The South is a Donald Ross design. Lots of fun!

Tucker should have waited a week. Hope MSU gets whipped like FSU...

Have fun on your vacation. My parents took me to Sanibel Island when I was a kid. I loved the beaches and all, but also remember loving this burger joint called Cheeburger Cheeburger. I just looked it up and it's still there!
