I am not a fan of FishDuck

I apologize if any of you like FishDuck. However with a slate of writers, many of whom have no experience in sports writing; an ego maniac owner / moderator of the site who continually begs people to comment but belittles(or bans) them if they do not agree with his agenda and say so, this site is the worst of all the Duck sites. Keeping in mind, these writers have ZERO access to the programs, players, coaches and so forth. They just "wing it."

This article is a perfect example. I admit, the men have been frustrating to watch this season at different times. BUT let's remember, Altman started the season with 3(?) returning players from last year. Oregon is in 2nd place in the Pac-12 and tied with Colorado for the best overall record in the conference. Lots of teams in the Pac-12 wish they were in "trouble" like Oregon.

https://fishduck.com/2020/02/oregon-mens-basketball-is-in-trouble/

And when he writes: "With a team this talented, the Ducks should have no problem reigniting the offense across the board, and putting away teams they should beat easily"...the amateur writer comes out at its best. First of all, "talented" and "experience" are not always the same. Plus as the season goes along, opponents have more film on the "new players" and make adjustments to say nothing of an increase in the quality of the competition compared to November / December games. Conference coaches all know each other and the players better than preseason coaches / players.

Anyway, I could go on and on and I will not use this platform to rip FishDuck weekly(as much as I think it is deserved) but will from time to time, like today, vent! It is also why I like this platform...we can post links to any article we read and by and large unless someone goes "Orange Army" on us, comment as we so desire. Go Ducks!

Re: I am not a fan of FishDuck

Haven’t been on that sight. If the article, and the comments are any indication, I don’t need to bother with it in the future either.

You did a nice job here on just briefly highlighting one logical inconsistency. For me, it's all about how the site presents itself. It really is not authoritative if they don't have a credential or access. Your opinions on Oregon athletics are always thoughtful and well supported. I appreciate that!  I don't know their work, but after reading Ryan's piece there, I am not putting it into the rotation...

I read Fishduck, but have never commented there. I like their film breakdown and coach Woody's thoughts during football season. I don't honestly know enough about BBall to say much, I just root for the team and hope for the best
I do think Charles gets a little carried away with his moderation, but it's his site. I really do like what Phil has done here. We can leave a comment and know nobody is going to troll it, and all Ducks fans are welcome.

Damned straight! Thank you, Phil, and Go Ducks! Dang, I hope we blast OSU tomorrow. Glad Dante is back...

Re: I am not a fan of FishDuck

I haven't been to Fishduck. It's nice being on here with all of the thoughtful, insightful, and well written post we're getting on here. We get a lot of traffic from unregistered users that presumably come here to get the latest news and thoughts from fans. I'm sure Luther is coming here too and it's driving him nuts knowing he can't troll us! Thanks for everyone's participation, Go Ducks!

You know it's gotta be driving Luther nuts that we have a site he can't troll.

Agree 1000%. I used to read all the articles on FishDuck, but have come to realize, it's all just the same sort of speculation, and opinion stuff you hear in the local tavern. It's ok, if you like to read that stuff on the internet, but they don't know anything the average fan doesn't know. I do like Ken Woody, but the rest I think is fluff, and for some reason, I really get annoyed with the constant references to "grey beards." My beard has been grey since my late 20s - that's why I never grew one again, and I wasn't old!  And also the very repetitive "Oh how we love to ponder our beloved ducks..." It's just tiresome. Maybe I'm a bit cranky today, but FishDuck blows, IMHO.
