I think this article is very fair towards Oregon and its placement in the 4 "ifs" category.
Nice to see more depth of thought beyond "it is the play calling" broken record narrative that amateur writers on sites like FishDuck spew over and over.
Personally, I think the 202 combined starts on the OL who have graduated may be the most important "if" of the 4 noted.
Otherwise I cannot help but smile at the fact the Ducks are in this discussion as the highest rated and one of only two(USC) Pac-12 teams noted!

gonna miss those 4 senior O-linemen from last season, esp Jake H, who called out the blocking assignments and adjusted to the D formations for the last few years.
I remember in 2018 when Jake got suspended for helmet-to-helmet in Q4 of the UCLA game, and had to sit out first half of Ducks game v Utah on the road. Throcks took over at C, and Ducks managed <150 yds and scored 7 points in the first half.
I think this new crop of O-linemen is more talented; there are some future NFL bruisers in that group, and not just Penei. it's just a matter of how they gel and get some cohesion. and of course no injuries.
a healthy UO team wins the P-12 North, esp w Tree and UW coming to Autzen. SC has the horses, like always, and should run away w the P-12 South if Slovis stays healthy this year; one mag has him as a 'Heisman darkhorse'.
no Rose Bowl for P-12 champs this year, it's a playoff game. that would be a nice goal.

Those OL players were recruited pre-Cristobal and goodness knows they did a great job but yes the new recruits are a different type of player / athlete. That is why I think all new head coaches deserve at least 3 but preferably 4-years in order to recruit "their team."
Also as per the schedule, USC and ASU are at Autzen too which is not only helpful for Oregon's overall conference play but MAY impact what happens in the South Division.
