I’m fairly used to him making typos and other grammatical errors, despite the importance of being grammatically accurate in his profession.
However, his latest article is a horrendous butchering of the English language, when he writes about “denaming” Deady Hall. He does realize we already have words that he could use to describe the actions taking place i.e., rename if they’re renaming the building; or if the building won’t have a name, it would be an unnamed building.
His articles are becoming an insult to our intellect. The only writers left over there that seem to be worth reading are Nemec and Goe.

'denaming' is actually the term used by Pres Schill in his communique to the UO Board of Trustees. but yeah, Mr. Crepea and the English language aren't exactly bffs.
once upon a time The O had at least one reporter dedicated to the 'higher education' beat, but now the staff directory in the <footer> shows only Betsy Hammond ('Politics and Education') and Eder Campuzano ('PPS, Education'). I guess neither one of them could make the trip to Eugene to cover the BoT meeting, so it fell to Mr. Crepea. still don't understand why the story is on the Sports page.
love that old building, tho I never had a class there. I still take a few cell-phone snaps whenever I'm on campus. looks like something out of a E. A. Poe story.

Crepea is based in Eugene, think he has a radio show down there as well. And yes, the guy has a heckuva time with the language and seriously needs a copyright editor before he posts his articles. I think he has a bit of cred with this coaching staff, he did his previous stint in AL and maybe knew MC from then? Just throwing a dart...
Another dart I am throwing is my guess that the writers on O-Live are all independent contractors, not paid employees. If that is true, that may be why the beat writers are not spending the money to travel to Eugene, even gas money. So hot breaking news out of Eugene is most likely finding its way to Crepea's desk to follow up on...

Oh yeah, lucky to have had a class in Deady Hall back in the day- top floor math class with legendary prof Triguero...

I think the whole media culture has transitioned from quality to quantity. It is all about volume so accuracy, spelling, etc are not, sadly, a priority.
