Pac-12/Ducks schedule released

https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2020/07/oregon-ducks-10-game-pac-12-only-schedule-for-2020.html

The 10 game Pac-12 season is planning to start on September 26th. Colorado will be the Ducks first opponent for a Eugene home game.

Larry Scott said in a statement. “The schedule and plans approved today and path to return to competition are subject to public health orders and will be taken in accordance with the health and well-being guidelines developed by our Pac-12 Medical Advisory Committee."

If this can actually happen I think having Colorado at home would be an ideal start to get a new QB, most of the O-Line, and OC Moorehead on the same page and primed for more competitive opponents. Not that I'm worried about Ducks starting slow or struggling againt anyone in the conference. I'm really hoping they can make this happen and do it safetly.

Re: Pac-12/Ducks schedule released

I guess football is better than no football but the rivalry games are a mess...

Oregon vs osu in Week 4

ASU vs Arizona in Week 1

UCLA vs USC in Week 1

Stanford vs Cal in Week 5

Thanks for the nice link!

It's really starting in week 6 against the Huskies and the remaining games that I'm most excited about. Is playing the rivalry games a sign they don't think the season will finish and are trying to get the games in? I'm much more interested in watching the Ducks play the Huskies, USC, and Cal.

Yes, trying to get the big games in before the season gets murky...

the thinking, I read, is that the first week might not be played if COVID-19 is not sufficiently controlled, so the Sept games would be pushed back to a bye week or into December. the Crosstown and Territorial in Sept and CW(now Platypus) in Oct just doesn't seem right, but I'll take anything right now.

Re: Pac-12/Ducks schedule released

I had not heard of this group of players. "Opt out" is becoming the new reality in sports with athletes at all levels. Athletes have perhaps more leverage than ever before to voice their concerns about issues and as we have seen with examples like Iowa and Oklahoma State football, they are using that leverage. I am interested to learn what this group of players from the Pac-12 has to share.

A little more info is listed in the Oregonian article. The list of demands will be published Monday. The number of players are reportedly in the hundreds. It seems like some of the demands are above the authority of the Pac-12 like player compensation, which would need the NCAA onboard.

Yahoo Sports has an article that seems to contradict the Oregonian report of players in the hundreds. Their article also said Cal has been one of the hubs of the movement.

A lot more specifics are floating around on Twitter, which may not be factuel of course.
