First step towards playing, but how is the air quality in the Valley?

AQI still in the 200s here in SWPDX; posd to be 33 by Friday.
I imagine it's pretty good inside The Shofsky.
GREAT NEWS! just maybe some P-12 ball in November?

I think they will play, and it looks like hoops is a go as well. Glad to see Bittle commit, and now we get to see Oregon play some football. Hope we get to play Ohio State in the Rose Natty!

Any chance of the players who have declared for the draft to come back now?? My understanding is that the NCAA would allow it.

I know several B1G players that opted out are now returning, so I would imagine it will be the same in the PAC. Up to the players, I believe.

I am guessing since it is only September whatever a player SAYS is non-binding but what he DOES has potentially no return consequences i.e. drops out of school and / or signs with an agent.
Also regardless of what the NCAA says, I think the head coach probably has the final say on whether a player can return.

No problem if players opted out and stay opted out. If they return, bonus. If NFL-declared players want to return, no problem whatsoever. My primary concern is for these players in all schools at all levels is health and freedom from injury, not concerned if the season ends up cut short. Corners are being cut in training and practice and such, the results very evident after the first two weeks of the season.

I also think there is a lot of over simplified "football is back" hype.
If you read the protocols the Big Ten has put in place they are far more detailed than daily temperature checks.
Speaking of, the Big Ten doesn't play a game for 5 more weeks. As we have seen month after month, this situation can literally change in a day or two.
Read today where Charlotte had to cancel their upcoming game against UNC because they don't have enough offensive linemen.

Football is back. I am watching Cleveland and Cincy play on TV. There will be disruptions and cancelations, but they are playing NFL and college football games. My son has a tee-ball game tomorrow. My daughter's middle school is starting volleyball in ten days.
I hope that Oregon and the PAC-12 can get into coordination with the BIG-10. They would both end their seasons just at the edge of the committee decision for the playoffs.
Football is back. It's just a matter of if the PAC-12 will be a part of the playoff.

Football scrimmages are back in college football. One day Florida State has a head coach and the next day he has Covid-19 so their deputy head coach is the interim head coach. No guarantees a playoff will happen yet it is almost certain teams will be playing a different number of total games. 2020 is an asterisk for college football.

My feeling is this season should just be cancelled, and resume play next fall. Playing a season now will be a crap shoot for the health of the student-athletes. What little FB I've seen so far has not been that exciting.
On another note, we signed another 5 star long snapper

I agree that it's a strange proposal to play in these circumstances. Ideally, the rapid testing will give UO sports an advantage in the arduous task of contact tracing. That is a big part of the current lag times, from what I have heard (and why that Baylor/Houston game was postponed).
But the NFL just played a flawless week of football. No major cases reported, and a very competitive slate of quality games. I know many of you don't watch the NFL. But it has been the only league that started on time and they have done this well. Maybe...just maybe, the PAC-12 can as well.
If the Ducks cannot play in a playoff, then it will be hollow. I hope they push to play at the same pace as the BIG-10, optics be damned.
And I mean the optics of following another conference. If 40% of the P5 is on the same schedule, then it will be hard to deny OSU/UO...
