Probably the best scenario we could hope for this season.

I believe they feel the winner of the PAC could be eligible for the playoffs...wouldn't it be cool to meet the buckeyes for the title

"They" is the million dollar word here.  If the Pac winner goes undefeated, and pretty much any other four teams have only one loss, we will get left out with only 7 games.  "They" could have moved up the start to the end of Oct, but "they" in their wisdom, just don't really care.

Re: Pac-12 Football returns November 7th!

I'm just happy there's going to be a season this year. A month ago that seemed very unlikely and a spring season didn't make any sense to me. I don't blame the Pac for cancelling initially without testing available. It's hard to understand why it wasn't feel steam ahead when the news broke out about the testing becoming available.

Like Norm's saying the playoff might be really hard to get into even with running the table. It would've been nice to have Penei around for a playoff run, which would've helped for for the perception of the Ducks besides being one of the best players on the field in the country. All things considered a season of any kind with a relative level of safety is something to be thankful for.

The P12 got caught on their heels.  Scott shut this sucker down and meant to keep it shut down after paying the bonuses to the top folks and scuttling all the little people.  Doubt the conference is in the talk for a playoff with only seven games, not even holding out hope for a spot.  Just glad that the team and players and coaches can train, suit up and hopefully stay well in this abbreviated slate of contests and run the table.

Those are two separate issues...the suspension of sports and Pac-12 office matters.

The Pac-12 CEO group voted to resume sports(as they did to suspend it); Scott does not have that kind of power. That CEO group are his bosses.

Scott does have the power to do what he did with those employed in the Pac-12 office.

We can only hope those powers that be will terminate Scott sooner than later. 🙏

Re: Pac-12 Football returns November 7th!

One of the most important facts I was not aware of previously is the importance of the Pac-12 to be "active" as it relates to collecting revenue from the playoffs even if the conference does not have a team in the playoffs.

From that ESPN article...

"The Pac-12 has not received an indication it would be ineligible for the College Football Playoff due to its reduced schedule, sources said. Even if the Pac-12 doesn't have a team worthy of inclusion in the four-team field, the eligibility component is important so it can be in position to collect the sizable payout. Last season, there was a $66 million base payout to each of the Power 5 conferences."

Can't see the Ducks or the Pac getting into the playoffs with 7 games...only way  is if the other conferences stumble and cancel a few games. LSU is suffering... they have a few players with the Covid 19 right now. Tough way to get into the Playoff if other teams get the virus.  What a year 2020 has been! Wow!

Playoffs???!!!  Crikey!  I will be happy if we can watch the PAC-12 play some football without players getting sick.

Yeah, I have no interest in even following what other teams need to lose and whatnot to have a chance. The way this year has been it's never a good idea to get ahead of yourself. I'm excited to see the Ducks at any compacity though and especially to see what Moorhead can do with the offense and new QB.

Re: Pac-12 Football returns November 7th!

Okay, so my Oregon IPA pint is half full. I am optimistic about this season, even in these strange circumstances. I wish we had our four amazing athletes that opted out, of course, and a full slate of games. We'll always wonder what might have been if we had played Ohio State at Autzen.

But now we get to see the Ducks' young'ens step up. Wright, McKinley, Breeze, and Williams will need to step up, as will Steve Stephens. Kayvon and Scott are still here, and our linebackers are ballers. Time to see Devon Willims and JJ III lead the league 1-2 in receiving yards, and God willing we'll see a full set of games from Cam McCormick. Our backs are the best in the league.

I'm hoping Shough wins the QB competition. Glad Brown is there, but I want two good years from Shough. He has only shown good things, and I think he can run it, which will be huge in Moorhead's system.

We are in October! It won't be long, gentlemen. Give me a schedule, and give me the Oregon Ducks on Saturday evenings. May they play most games at 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. Pacific, and may they blast them damn dogs back to Montlake.

GO DUCKS!
