Goe and Covid

Another article by Goe today regarding the rapid testing for Covid.  He's really hoping that Covid will ravage the season in the Pac.  There have been 9 deaths since Sept in Oregon with Covid being a contributing factor, not the factor.  Here is the number of deaths caused by car crashes this year in Oregon.  Goe better start ranting against the use of cars i guess.  Average deaths: 38/mo.

Yeah. His harping on Covid-19 and the stopping of the PAC-12 football season is wearing thin with me. I’ve stopped reading his articles.

Re: Goe and Covid

Goe's articles were one of the few that I looked forward to reading, but if he continues to lament on this pandemic, he can count me as one who won't bother reading. I don't want to hear about the virus from him, just give me some news on the Ducks. Some people have this fear and panic that they just can't get over.  The sky is falling...misery loves company, etc.  In 2020, I have traveled to Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming. I haven't been sick this year and did not see anyone else in a state of panic, either.  If your sick or fearful, stay home.  The rest of us want to continue living our lives.  Get busy living or get busy dying.

Re: Goe and Covid

1) Deaths are not the of only measurement of the impact of Covid-19.

2) The media is in a no-win situation...if they put too much emphasis on something they get criticized for "wishing bad stuff to happen"; if they don't put enough emphasis then they get criticized for "thinking only sports while a pandemic is happening."

3) In the case of Goe, like every media person, he has zero impact on whether Pac-12 games are played or not...so what he might wish for or imply is meaningless and without cause for concern. He has opinions but no decision making powers.

4) I have seen plenty of panic in people who have lost loved ones, their jobs, their homes, cannot pay rent, etc...as well as friends who are healthcare professionals working in panic stricken hospitals. So I guess there are those who are able to travel around and not "see" that panic but not seeing it by no means is proof it isn't happening.

5) To me the greatest threat to college football games happening and life in general are those who believe the rules / guidelines / recommendations don't apply to them. The virus will take the path of least resistance and entitlement is a "super food" for it.

Re: Goe and Covid

Count me in as someone getting tired of Goe’s ranting and raving about Covid.

I’m beginning to wonder if he wants the season canceled not because of any possible dangers due to Covid, but rather he just doesn’t want his Beavers and Huskies to get ravaged by the Ducks again, and wants to give them more time to rebuild.

Goe used to be good, but without the comment section keeping him in check, he’s just become a scaremonger.

Re: Goe and Covid

My wife's school is pausing until Tuesday. We got tested yesterday and were negative. Four hour turnaround and free testing.
