Here is a list of college FB coaches salaries: Mario ranks 57th. In my opinion, he deserves a significant raise, even in these times.

Agree MC is deserving of compensation which puts him higher than #57 amongst his peers.
Disagree that now is the time to give a multi millionaire and highest paid(?) public employee in the State of Oregon a raise.
Aside from football not generating any revenue at the moment, this would be a PR nightmare of ridiculous proportions.
Larry Scott has already damaged the Pac-12 enough... let's not compound the problems by MC getting a pay raise.

MC is underpaid in the market by the results he has delivered, but that being said most every college HC is massively overpaid in the first place. I think he gives a bit in salary so as to elevate the pay of his assistants and he clearly is not in rabid football geography to command SEC levels of pay.
My guess is that he will give it his sincere all to deliver massive amounts of hardware in the Oregon trophy case until one day when Saban calls it a career. Don't think that day is here anytime soon, but MC on the very short list to 'Bama would not be a stretch and that payday will more than cover whatever perceived shortfall he is experiencing today...

felt very satisfying sitting in the RB January and watching the Ducks celebrate on the field . . . but I'm not sure the best team won. I know that w/o those TOs forced by the D and Brady's fluky scoop-n-score we're not even in that game.
along the way to a Rose Bowl trophy were: an L to Auburn on nat'l TV in a winnable game; a skin-o-the-teeth escape in Autzen v a mediocre Wazzu team; and a flat and uninspired performance in Tempe in a huge game w playoff implications. and lots of second-guessing about Mario's and Arroyo's play-calling and game management.
some of that was due to keeping Herbs under-wraps in the running game until Utes and Pasadena. the world is now seeing just how good Justin is.
Mario has succeeded w players recruited by Helf & Taggart; Herbs, obviously, but also Deo Lenoir, TG4, Jordon, Troy, and that senior O-line. he's proved himself a great recruiter, and I think he's hired some excellent asst coaches. the next coupla years will be the Tell on the Cristobal Era in Eugene.
maybe he & Jess want to return to the Southeast someday, but I wouldn't want to be the person to follow Saban at Bama. if that's how it turns out, I hope he signs for guaranteed Frost/Taggart $$.

Yes but that is all sports..
all you have to be is the best team THAT DAY / GAME. What about winning on the road at the uw?
MC in only his second year as head coach; working with a majority of players he did not recruit who were a talent level below Kelly era teams on offense (nobody is confusing the RB / WR / TE talent of last season to James, Barner, Huff, DAT, Dickson, etc)...won the North Division, Pac-12 and Rose Bowl.
I think Herbert was "kept under wraps" because MC knew he was the one player who needed to stay upright and healthy for Oregon to have any chance of winning...so in that context MC / Arroyo did a great job.
And while it is way too early, so far it sure looks like MC / Arroyo did a nice job preparing Herbert for the NFL despite the countless predictions to the contrary...maybe better than Helfraud did with Mariota?
I believe every head coach deserves 4-years to build "his team" and I think MC is way ahead of schedule at this point.
