OLive article on Shough / Moorhead

I get it that we fans don't know or understand "what the defense is doing" that can impact the plays called on offense.

However, it doesn't take a football genius to see what has happened 4 games in a row and specifically in the second halves i.e. trying not to lose vs trying to win.

You want Shough to have confidence? Keep calling the plays which he did well with in the first half.

@DucksReign

I hear ya about the conservative, not-to-lose play-calling. at the same time . . .

that INT that Shough threw at the end of the half v SC was a near-disaster. fortunately the D held and then Tommy whiffed a 40-yd FG. only 35 seconds left in the H, on your own 37 leading 21-14, and you get the 2nd-half KO. just run out the clock.

Shough going through the first-year-starter struggles like so many other UO QBs. I remember Herbs throwing a pick that ended the game in OT at Cal in 2016, costing the Ducks a shot at a rare W. he shook it off.
Shough still struggling badly at reading D and with deep throws over the middle. from the comfy play-calling confines of my home office, I still say jack it up the sidelines deep and let Pittman or Williams go up and get it.

The idea of letting the defense dictate your offense bothers me. To a point sure, like when a QB lines up and counts the numbers in the box and calls either a run or pass. However, most successful offenses have a game plan and try and force the D to react. I like how CK went about calling plays: each one set up the next one, and he didn't care what the D was doing. Also, anybody know what the delay is in the mens BBall game?

Looks like the game is called off indefinitely due  to an official testing positive. That's the official story at least. When I saw it was an ESPN game my first thought was maybe Walton got distracted in the car listening to an hour long version of Fire on the Mountain and accidently drove to a different state thinking he was going to a Dead show!
