Notre Dame

At what point will everyone wake up and realize Notre Dame does not belong in the top 4, let alone the top 10? What a joke!

Bama will be hard to beat. Go Ducks tomorrow!

Re: Notre Dame

Notre Dame being overrated is one thing that never changes. It seems like Notre Dame has a cult like following of people in high places like the selection committee.

I'm not a gambler, but was thinking betting straight up even at -800 would be guaranteed money. Even the giant 19.5 spread had 2x the number of people picking Bama.

I just looked up their performance in recent big post season games and the numbers don't lie. 0-7 in playoff and NY6 games the past 20 years with a whopping -161 point deficit. https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/notre-dame-fighting-irish/this-is-why-notre-dame-should-never-be-in-a-ny6-playoff-game-again/

Go Ducks!

Meanwhile, Cowheard has the Ducks poised to dominate the PAC and make the playoffs...

That's nice to see the Ducks getting some respect nationally. He makes a good point about how young the team is this year. I don't bother listening to Cowheard unless I'm in the car on occasions. A couple weeks back he was going to have a segment on how people didn't see Justin Herbert coming like he has. I made it home right before the segment started and would've been curious to hear what he said.

All of Cowherd's shows can be accessed via podcast i.e. The Herd. I use Castbox as my podcast platform.

Which is why I RARELY listen to any live sports radio now. Cowherd, Rome, Patrick, etc. all have podcasts so I choose day / hours I like; download them for listening at home or in the car. Most of their shows are posted via podcast the same day.

Re: Notre Dame

Happy New Year! Go Ducks!

1) Notre Dame has good football players and coaches; they are physical, competitive etc. BUT they simply do not have the athletic talent in either numbers or depth. They just don't. That is the reality. I think of Stanford in the same context.

Alabama can score a TD on ONE PLAY from ANYWHERE on the field. Notre Dame can't do that and that is the difference between good football players and athletic football players.

Unfortunately the CFP Selection Committee is unwilling to recognize that distinction as a criteria for the playoffs.

2) Oregon is getting there as in athletic talent / depth of players. I am hoping Oregon will get to the point of a player like DAT being more common than the exception. Look at Alabama...they lose their #1 WR Waddle to injury and who steps in? Devonta Smith who may win the Heisman! Cristobal knows what it takes to get to that level.
