Re: Fiesta Bowl Game Chat

Joe Moorhead pitched another second-half shutout. This guy is a fraud. Another dime-a-dozen overpaid multi-millionaire OC.

In the last 5 games of the season in which Oregon went 2-3, the Ducks scored a total of 38 SECOND-HALF points...5 TD's and 1 FG for a whopping average of 3.8 points PER QUARTER. That is 10 quarters and 5 of those quarters the Ducks were shutout.

Either he doesn't know how to play call or coach players or both but if I was a head coach at any school I would look at Oregon recruit commits at offensive skill positions and go after them i.e. You really want to go play under Moorhead? An offense with about as much excitement as a petrified tree?

He has only been coaching at the P5 level since 2016 and does it ever show.

Re: Fiesta Bowl Game Chat

Duck O and ST play killing the team while the defense did pretty much everything asked of them considering.  Second half adjustments worked in D and not sure again why the O just sputters.

Shough is a good dude, but does not seem to have “it” and his teammates kind of play down to his level once he gets rattled.  Brown is good, but not great- his passes not having much in the way of zip and his accuracy was not much better than TS.

Expect a full-on QB battle come Soring with a transfer or two departing.  My guess is a Fall chart of Shough, Butterfield, Thompson and Brown if he chooses to stay,  Ashford with a foot on the diamond and Millen the odd man out.

Not terribly disappointed and gotta say that ISU looked very good, glad to see the Wazzu of the B12 taking huge strides forward...

Yeah, Iowa State was going to be our toughest game, so no surprise to lose. My disappointment comes from the way we lost. Against U$C, we brought 5 and sometimes 6 guys, got Slovis rattled, and win a game. Today, their QB was almost never hurried, and we rarely rushed more than 4. Again, the QB situation...also the many turnovers and just plain sloppy play. With Thompson coming in, any chance Tyler hits the transfer portal.

I'm with you on Shough not having that it factor. He might have a better arm than Brown, but just doesn't see the field that well and looks like a deer in headlights. The QB battle seems wide open coming into next year.

I just got done reading Canzano's article reminding us of traveling to Ohio State for the 2nd game of the season next year. The Ducks can't keep switching up QB's in seemingly random fashion next year. I'm glad they didn't end up playing Ohio State this year.

Sounds like Cristobal knows he has some coaching issues on his hands. He was quoted " “They outplayed us and they outcoached us on those third downs.”

At times the play calling has gotten receivers open downfield and opened up some big runs. It's hard to figure out why they come out in the second half so bad and seemingly make bad adjustments as opposed to what successful coaches do. The inexperience can be partially blamed, but yeah, Moorhead is not what I was expecting this year.

Re: Fiesta Bowl Game Chat

I think the QB situation is the least of our problems. Nor will it matter who the QB is if they are running Joe Moorhead's scoreless offense.

I dont think it is unreasonable to expect improvement as the season progresses but Oregon's offense got worse by any reasonable measure. In 2 of the last 3 games the offense did not score in the second half.

Can anyone describe the Ducks style / philosophy / scheme?

If Oregon has any "identity" on offense, I would love to know what it is?

I have no clue what Cristobal, Moorhead and Mastro want to do with the offense and it reflects in the way the Ducks play.

Therefore any "quarterback battle" heading into the next season is meaningless i.e. that famous quote from Alice in Wonderland which is cited in the realm of leadership all the time:

"If you don't know where you are going then any road will take you there."

Daewood Davis enters the transfer portal. That poor kid did whatever he was asked, and I wish him well.

Re: Fiesta Bowl Game Chat

I’m absolutely disappointed with the entire team. I need to stop there as there was VERY little to be be positive about after watching tonight’s performance. The ONLY positive was Katleman.

This young team has a lot of growing to do.

Go Ducks! Go Altman! Take down the tree.
