Crepea's OLive article on Duck QB situation says it all!

I like Cristobal but talk about a head coach who answers questions / makes statements but actually says nothing...see this article. I am sorry but it's just nonsense. His comments do reflect the status of the offense = dysfunctional.

All this pre-game hype about getting Shough's confidence back to November levels (noted in the article) and Oregon's first play after all the preparations for this game is Shough running up the middle which resulted in a 1-yard loss?!?

I am starting to think Cristobal never had to address a lot of details on offense with an experienced OL and Herbert but now those details are rearing their ugly heads and he is in a fog as to what needs to happen.

I think what needs to happen is the O-line maturing, and getting a QB who can read a defense and adjust.  Both of those things will happen (I hope).  Let's hope for a full spring schedule, and a new start this year!

a disappointing though not unexpected loss.

I saw a lot of things yesterday to like and carry forward into 2021. the O-line played well w five new starters. the D fought to the end even though they were on the field for 40 minutes. that stuff on 4th&goal and subsequent 99-yd TD drive had me hopeful. and then the Ducks played three minutes of bad and stupid football.

don't know what to make of Shough going forward. he's clearly uncomfortable with the speed of the game and lacking confidence. maybe what the UO staff needs is a 'quarterback whisperer' like Spicolli to work w Tyler and the rest of the young guys. I remember Dennis Dixon struggling for two years, getting rotated w Brady Leaf, and then figuring it out when UO hired that guy from New Hampshire.
anyway . . . QB competition is wide open next year. it hurts to watch all this talent at wideout and flanker--Williams, Pittman, Redd, great depth behind them--and nobody to get them the ball and let them make plays.

Duck Basketball, men's and women's. Onward!

Ty Thompson will be in the mix next year. If it really is a true competition, he'll be the starter I believe, barring injury, which we sure seem to have a lot of.

Isnt that the job responsibility of the OC Moorhead???

If they are not utilizing "all that talent" now then why would it change next season with the same head coach / OC / running backs coach?

Why did the offense get progressively worse as the season went along to the point of getting shutout in the second half of 2 of the last 3 games i.e. "with all that talent?"

This isn't a Shough issue or a next season QB competition issue...it is a COACHING PROBLEM.

We have 3 coaches (Cristobal, Moorhead and Mastro) who collectively are a HUGE buzz kill for all that talent and prefer "establishing physicality" on the OL while the foundation of the offense is running up the middle from the Pistol.

I don't blame the players at all...I blame the coaches for not being able to design a 60-minute offense that puts people in positions to succeed.

Re: Crepea's OLive article on Duck QB situation says it all!

I saw Butterfield and that fuzzy moustache a few times on the sideline as well. What a debacle that game was. Clearly, the terrible special teams play says it all about how that game went. We were still in it even after four turnovers, largely in part because the defense did step up in the second half.

Much brighter days ahead. Thanks to Picket and Kampmoyer for some great play over the years. Both go the UDFA route, in my view, although Kampmoyer has admirable size and athleticism.

Brown looks very comfortable, for the most part. The offense was fast and fluid, and he made some great choices with the ball. Wish he'd hit Devon Williams when he flashed open, and of course you can't fumble the ball like that fighting for yards. I appreciate Shough and his athleticism. He really did look like two completely different players this year, though.

Hoops! Women playing well, overall, and the men just swept the Bay Area teams!

GO DUCKS!
