Tyler Shough to Auburn???

Interesting article from an Auburn site...had to chuckle at thought that Nix is not improving at Auburn just as Shough seemed to struggle to improve at Oregon!

Yet by only cherry picking Shough's positive stats, the writer seems to think Shough might be perfect for Auburn...which he might be and the writer does make some good points about the impact of hiring Harsin as the head coach...but again, if you notice, like most of these fan websites, there is no direct access, sources, contacts, etc. to support her idea. Scan the transfer portal; research "good" stats and then speculate with a column whether it might work for your team...setting aside whether Shough even wants to play that far away from home or in the SEC.

Re: Tyler Shough to Auburn???

I have to believe that Shough is a competitor and believes he is good enough for the big stage.  The game is so transient and so volatile anymore.  Players know that this level is most likely the end of the road in terms of playing the game that they love and anymore a “great fit” is simply where you have a shot, or at least a second chance.

Auburn is a blank canvas at this point, so why not consider being a part of something new?

Agree but my general argument is why the writer didn't explore the possibility a little deeper?

What happened? Did the coaches suggest he might want to look elsewhere? Did he not want to compete for the starting job? Did he see the writing on the wall with Brown returning and Thompson on campus? Was he upset at the way he was replaced in the Iowa State game?

The article seems to suggest Nix has been poorly coached...maybe the same for Shough?

His stats only tell part of the story.

For the record, I put Shough's departure more on the coaching staff...how he was coached in games and how the games themselves were managed.

When you play 7 games and average 5 pts in the 4th quarter that is not just a QB problem. Oregon was shutout in the second half against Iowa State even when Shough was out of the game.

Quarterback roulette will not matter if the coaching is lousy. Good luck to him.
