Sean Dollars out indefinitely

Sean Dollars won't be available till some point later in the season with a significant leg injury. That's really too bad for him and I hope he gets healthy ahead of schedule.

Bummer. We are also losing three due to medical retirement. Jonah came in sounding like he was ready to challenge Penei, but never saw much action. Wish them all the best.

Way too much not-so-good news with the football team today. sigh... But maybe it works out with the number of scholarships.

Re: Sean Dollars out indefinitely

Since, according to the article, that leaves Dye and Verdell as the only healthy SCHOLARSHIP RB's in spring practice, I am going to guess the QB competition will feature a lot of passing which is a good thing.

Re: Sean Dollars out indefinitely

In my opinion Verdell is too small and we will have to rely on Dye. Verdell will be out by the 5th game(hip problems) so we better get prepared to install another running back asap

Re: Sean Dollars out indefinitely

Not terribly concerned.  Both of the backs on the roster are serviceable and hopefully Year Two of the new OC scheme will rely less on ground and pound and more on QB play and creating open spaces for the ridiculous amount of talent on this roster at wideout.  Dollars is a guy that I would have thought would have more carries LY considering the limitations of Dye (tiny slasher with fumble-itis) and CHL (poor man’s LGB).  I would not be surprised that if he misses significant time this coming season that he doesn’t transfer out for a fresh start considering the extra year eligibility he has.  The transfer portal is full of good players and there could be a diamond in the rough at the JC/FCS level to come in for Fall camp with something to prove running with an elite line.

The reality is that UO is still not there in terms of loading and reloading each year, the program still being built by a coach who I truly believe wants to finish this deal with a championship before he takes a crack at his dream job in Coral Gables...
